    I'm a little late here, but absolutely remove those studs!!! It makes it so much easier to guide the cover on and nearly eliminates the probable chance that you'll mess up the silicone and end up with a leak.

    but even if i remove the studs, which is easy, there will be the crankshaft protruding from the block that will disable me to set the cover from the above to control the oil pump gasket in place. I will still have to set it from the front in the same motion that i would if the studs were still there.

    Yes, but without the crankshaft seal being in the cover, you have a bit of room to work with. And trying to align the crank, along with the 2 studs without messing up the silicone is a pain in the ass.

    You can preset the oil pump prior to sliding on the cover to make it that much easier.

    3" lift? A.R.E cap 285/70/17 moto metal 955 17x9

    Crank position sensor sends a signal to the ECU for the tach and firing of the spark plugs, plus other things.
