Hey guys, I want to get sliders for my tacoma but I'ma be honest...I don't go offroading. At all. So I don't need them to be beastly (although I might go offroading sometime in the future) but I live and work around the DC area. Parking is ridiculously tight around here and I'd love something to keep door dings away, which is why I'm leaning towards sliders. Plus I like the look.

Any recommendations for sliders that stick out a bit? Ones that will stop car doors. Thanks!

You can get slider style steps that bolt to the cab instead of the frame. They provide no protection off-road and will actually cause more damage if you use them as rock sliders but they will stop doors and shopping carts just fine.

SOS Concepts (Charleston, SC) 100% bolt on, no drilling. Love mine. They are a TW vendor, Eddy does great work @EddyRRT

Too poor to list anything interesting.
    Agreed about SOS Concepts

Having the bolt ons are easy peasy to install (except for one bolt in the front). Plus, you can easily paint them with a rattlecan. I went with Rust-Oleum Professional flat black.

Nice 15° angle makes them useful as steps. Put some grip tape on them and you can use them to safely wash the top of your truck.

Also protects your doors from shitty parkers and stray carts

    +1 to SOS.

I got them before they stopped shipping to CA. Full bolt on with kickout. They stick out further than most sliders which is why i got em.

Can't go wrong with BAMF 100% bolt on sliders (@JLee ). They're awesome sliders and Jerry is a great guy to work with. He's up here in NorCal and makes quality products.

If you aren't doing any off road, check the Avid Off-Road steps out too. Same look as a slider, but not really a functioning slider.

Yup. Going local would save hundreds of dollars. These are beast to ship, you could pick them up locally. Shipping averages $300-$400 depending on location.

    Just a few
Avid Offroad makes some nice sliders. The ones i original
Ly bought from there mounted where the stock side steps mounts.....pretty mall crawlerish if you ask me. Good pricing and shipping wasn't bad either for being in Alaska.

Ours are definitely more than mall crawling rated. They'll take a beating like every other brand out there. Don't want to push away business but if all you want is steps and cart protection these are vastly overkill.

Any of the bolt on sliders should work for you. No need to pay for their more expensive and nearly bulletproof DOM tube versions unless you intend to SAS your Taco then run the Rubicon every weekend. The HREW tubes will dent and ding if you really slam then but will still protect your truck. Any dents just add character. My buddy has hammered the crap out of the Smittybilt HREW sliders on his Jeep and after years of hard offroading there is only one dent and no bending.

truth be told.... DOM vs HREW is a moot point.... so long as your bends on the HREW have the seem on the inside they are just as strong.
