I'm thinking about keeping my stock TRD wheels but thinking about putting Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ 285/75/R16 after I install a 3" lift on my truck. I know it will rub without wheel spacers but I'm trying to find the minimum inch of wheel spacers I can run with out the tires rubbing the frame.

your stock wheel is skinny at only 7 inches wide also the offset will be your biggest issue, you rub everything like crazy unless you get a wider wheel with a wider lower - number lower backspacing.

Largest you can run on stock wheels is 265/75/16 without needing to alter a lot....

    Stock backspacing is (?) 5.75 ?.
You are looking for 4.5 inches of backspacing for that tire at least. So about 1.25 - 1.5 inch spacers.

if you have $1000 for tires you can save another $500 for quality wheels that will make everything fit great.
4.5 or 4.0 backspacing with a 16x8 wheel in a -6 or -12 offset is what you need.

I'm running stock TRD wheels/BFG KO's (285/75r16), 3inch lift and 1.25" spacers and do not rub on the frame. I do rub multiple places in the wheel well tho...

@Taco me elmo Do you have info on the truck other than what the OP has posted? From his pick it looks like a 1st gen TRD, same as Landcaster has.

Some misleading info posted in this thread.

The stock TRD whelels have +15 mm offset which translates to ~4 9/16" of backspacing on a 7" wide wheel. 285/75-16s on this wheel will likely interfere with the the stock UCA near the ball joint by a little bit. A 1/2" spacer should move the tire out enough for them the clear.

This may be enough to clear the frame but it will not help with the pinchweld area. OP, some clearancing will be required to be able to run this combination if you will be flexing at all. Spacers alone wont be enough to be rub free. More info about your lift will help.

    Looked like a 2nd gen,

If it is a first gen then a 16x8 4.5 BS 00mm offset wheel will rub anyways without spacers with that wide of a tire.

I wouldn't recommend anything larger than 265/75/16 on stock wheels regardless as its just not optimal.

I run a 16x8 wheels 4.5 back space 00mm off set with 265/75/16 and I rub... but only at full lock.

I absolutely refuse to run spacers..!!!! refuse!!!
As a desert camping offroader I have seen way too many incidents regarding spacers.

I will be swapping to 17x8.5 wheels with 4.5 back space -6mm offset and 265/70/17 this weekend, will kick the wheel out .5 inch but will maintain the same inner clearance.

The lower the -mm you go the wider it sits, the lower the backspace the further away from the brakes and control arms ect.. like running spacers.

As of right now I'm just getting some info. I'm new when it comes to putting wheels and tires on a truck. I am only 18 and I'm just another guy that wants to make his truck look bad ass. As of right now I'm on a budget :annoyed:. But I am looking at these wheels when I have the money. Fuel Off-road 17x9 Maverick's. Any idea what tire size I can put on this with out slowing me down too much. Still love to race, but that's what my supercharger is for.

make sure it has a -12 offset or do not install.

265/70/17 is the max you can run right now.

A 16x8 4.5 bs shouldn't rub the uca or frame with a 285. I ran the same set up and didn't have any issues.

OP if you want to save some money just grab two spacers for the front only. A .75 is the smallest you can go to fit the tires and reduce rubbing.

Those wheels kind of look like TRD off-road wheels.
And is that a 17x9 size wheel?

17x8.5 -6 offset so that makes them 4.5 inch back space with 1.5 inch sticking out over stock.
