Drivers side window. Goes down good. Occasionally on its way up it runs out of steam. Almost like it bogs down. Or like a battery operated toy that runs out of juice.

Pulled the switch and cleaned it with electronics cleaner. Now it bogs down more consistently.

I'm guessing it's the motor? Or could it be the switch? Both sound expensive. Any ideas?

Remove the door panel, and the weather-liner. Then take a good look inside at the regulator and guides, and see of anything is out of whack or binding.

Mechanical binding. Open it up. Fix it.

I'll take the door panel off again. There was a flat piece of metal in there with teeth like a gear almost. I reached up and slathered that with a little grease. Works smoother and quieter now it seems.

The problem is so intermittent I figured electrical

That is called a linear gear. It runs off the helical gear on the motor. Could be the motor gear is wearing out.

it has 2 wires to make it work, touch positive and negative 12v to it and see if it works good. reverse the terminals you touch to reverse the direction it moves. if it still has trouble then its the motor or the regulator (scissor hinge) is binding, to test this unbolt the window from the regulator and see if it slides up and down without binding, if it works ok then it might be the switch.

to test the door switch, unplug the big plug in the drivers side kick panel and touch 12v positive to the big blue wire with the red stripe on it. if it works ok then your not getting good power to the door switch.
