since I don't have my 06 any longer, and the dealer was nice enough to give me back the Redline tailgate assist, I have found it does not fit. I don't know why as I have no 05-11 to look at.

Does anyone know why, and has anyone made it work?

    from the redline website:
"This product is designed to work with 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 and 2011 model years - nothing beyond 2011 will work with this design from Stabilus"

no further explanation is given. hope that helps

That does not help. I know it doesn't fit, now that I've tried it and had time to then go back to the site. I'm wondering If anyone has been able to make it work as it also says that there have been occasional issues with binding. Binding and not being able to close more than halfway are two different things.

Again, as I have no 06 any longer, I'm curious about the changes in the tailgate. Did they change the shape?

as far as changes in the tailgate go, no they've changed nothing since 2005. there might be a tighter tolerance somewhere in the sides where the tailgate/bed meet, or maybe the mounting location for the strut is just slightly different. ive never owned one of these struts so im just speculating.
