I understand what the ECT button does, but my dash light isn't coming on. How best so I tell what the issue is?

So, if I'm not noticing one come on, how might I go about testing if there is a problem? Meaning maybe the dash light isn't working itself, or perhaps something is wrong with the ECT button?

That I don't know but I'm sure someone can help you test it

Here's a terrible pic of the light. In my 02, it's green and under the check engine light20150724_014739.jpg
