I agree with others. It's a damn nice truck. It's got an asterisk that will never go away, but if you keep it long enough that won't mean much. A potential buyer(private party) will still pay a healthy amount for a good running Tacoma.

Just read through the thread and was hopping for some good news by the end. O well at least you tried. I had a stealership issue with my brand new Tacoma and by the end of all my complaints through every know avenue, I got the same answer from the dealer, basically, we have your money now leave. Chalked it up to a expensive life lesson. Glad your ok with it and moved on now.

Years ago I bought a new Dodge truck it was on the top of the car carrier it had a mishap with a tree branch broke the windshield and dented the roof they fixed it I took the truck end of the story. Drove it 117,000 miles and sold it. They all are a slab of stamped steel drive it like you stole it sell it later move on if you drive it long enough any deprecation won't matter.

I had a friend the bought a Camara the they said was a theft recovery and had the seats stolen out of it and that is it. When he went to trade it the dealer started looking at it and someone had cut the back half of the car off and replaced it. He went back to the original dealer and told him you signed this paper and it is yours. Long story short, buyer beware.

It is total crap that you cannot even trust Certified Preowned! Let me know the CPO is not worth any extra money!

good thread... when I bought mine in '08 from a dealer used lot (Michigan), as I sat at the sales desk pretending to listen to the sales dude ramble about how great the truck is, I was doing a carfax thing on my phone and finally came up, front pass 'light collision'. I flipped the phone to his face and asked him: "what the hell is this? you said it was acc. free??" he then shut the f up ... ended up getting it for $15K (23k miles, super clean otherwise).. still going 170k no issues and aligns right but with Camburg UCAs...

That explains the paint and filler on my "brand new 01 Ranger". I drove that sucker for 13 years and 120K. Modded the shiot out of it and sold it for decent cash. I could have fought the dealership, but it wasn't worth the effort. Enjoy the truck and don't worry about the final value. Life's too short to let the arseholes at a dealership trouble your mind.
