    I use lump hardwood i buy at walmart or home depot, i never could tell the difference between that and the BGE lump.

    A better question might be what wood do I prefer to add....... I like oak as a base and then depending on type of meat will add cherry/hickory/apple etc...

    Yeah, I've had pretty good luck with cowboy lump, and definitely enjoy experimenting with other woods. Apple wood and steaks was pretty interesting. Really good with pork.

    BGE lump is made by Royal Oak...which is what I normally use.
