I've been looking at camper shells and I think I've settled on a soft top. It seems to fit my needs of storage space and easy access to my truck bed. I bought one for my father for his Silverado, so I helped out with the installation. The one I bought him required us to put hook/loop tape (i.e., Velcro) on the body (paint) of the truck, plus drill a couple of holes. I don't want to modify my Taco with holes or apply any kind of adhesive (Velcro tape) to the finish/paint.

Can anyone tell me if there are soft tops that are installed against existing hardware (read: requires no modification) and are easy to remove and install? I've tried to dig up this info, but thought asking the forum was a better approach.

    I appreciate the help.

Thanks, kiesster, I appreciate the response. I had looked at both of those manufacturers. I definitely do *not* want something where I have to apply velcro tape to my truck's finish, though.

You don't have to apply it to the painted surface - The rear flap can be attached to the top of the tailgate. @DoorDing has a great how-to on his build thread for installation.

Instead of glueing Velcro to the tailgate I used magnetic strip. Unlike DoorDings install, my rear flap sits right below the tailgate's plastic cap so there was no need for a metal cap. Put color matched striping tape or clear film where the magnet sits to prevent grit from eating the tape. Inside the bed at the front I did use three snaps. Three tiny little holes up there really aren't a big deal. Guess if I ever sell the truck without the Softopper I could fill them with black silicone. Lol.
