Hello fellow Taco fans! I have a question for you all. I cant seem to find anything anywhere on converting a foot pedal emergency brake to a pull turn dash mount (or hand lever) hand brake.... I hate my foot brake.... This is for a 2nd generation Taco. Thanks!! for any redirect.

My guess is that there's a good reason the manual is a t-handle and the auto is a pedal.

Otherwise, I would think Toyota would have made them both the same.
    Just a guess though.

LOL! that would be recall disaster!.....Also they would prefer to use foot e-brake, as they are cheaper I think. So the dash is the same, just the panel covers are different. This must be a doable install....

Plus it might be tuff to ease off the foot e-brake and the clutch and ease into the gas all at the same time on a major hill from a dead stop with a manual transmission - at least for us 2 legged drivers.

I bought my Taco in automatic for the wife to be able to drive too. I want to install the hand brake instead of a foot brake. Looking at the parts diagrams it appear only the hand leaver and a shorter cable are needed. Everything from the connection under the shifter back is the same. Probably need a piece of plastic for the panel too... Maybe off to the wreckers.

Still working on my upgrades, only thing I've done is install a black brush guard.
Anybody got easy instructions on how to remove the grill and grill inserts? Then re-install everything? Thanks!

Just got my 2nd gen and the fan speed switch light is super dim compared to the rest of the knobs. Do I need to replace a light? Any direction? Thanks.

This may not be original...but it is to me and I thought I would share it just in case anyone else likes it. I assume this would apply to any 4.0L V6...be it Taco/XRunner, 4Runner, FJ, etc.

Since our oil filter is on the top of the engine, many of us use some hose to connect to the nipple on the collar of the filter housing to drain into the catch pan. Nothing wrong with that at all. This is just an alternative to using a hose.

I just took a plastic cup (a slim one), put a couple of holes in the rim and attached a small bungee cord to it. When your done carefully lift it out and dump it. Throw the cup away or clean it out and use it next time.

Thanks. I've done 2 OC's with it. Very easy and clean with nothing more than a paper towel to clean out the cup when I'm done. No more nasty dripping hose for me.
