Well when I bought her in 2003 with 15k she already had the bug guard. I guess I'm too gawdamn sentimental...

No, I think that will make a mess. It is generally used inside connectors prone to oxidation or corrosion from water, like bare metal trailer hitch wiring connectors (spades or butts) and similar. I would just use high-grade 3M electrical tape, making sure to clean whatever it touches very well. The trick also is to start away from the area or concern by not pulling the tape tight, then after a couple wraps, pull the tape to stretch and conform tightly to the wiring to exclude air/water, then when finishing, take the tension off again on the last wrap so that it it not trying to pull up the loose end. Make sense? I'll usually do a double layer, once in each direction.

But your space to do this is ridiculously limited, of course. Hope this helps.

Yeah. Not familiar with the resin, but once you've got that thing out, I'd put extra protection on it considering it is already possibly compromised. The sharp bends and exposed wire when I saw mine concerned me, but I saw no damage. Given the exposure to mud, dirt and water there, I would add tape too. Then even consider just leaving it unbent and zip tying it to that metal bracket in front of the shifter rather than reinstalling the factory retaining clip.

Yeah. That was the first PITA. Was yours not attaches there? Small metal vertical tab, and the wiring harness connector had another clip on it that mated to this tab. Sort of arrow shapwd , IIRC.

Yeah, almost looks like it it bent. I wouldn't worry about reconnecting to it. Just take measures to make sure the edges of that tab can't abrade through any wires over time. Hence the zip-tie thought.

It really is unbelieveable how a little sensor R&R can be such a PITA. All they had to do was make the wires a little longer and move it to the rear out from under the sheetmetal. Fucktards.

@m3bassman hows the sensor shitshow going? I know you are busy with work, but wondering if you were at least able to back out that broken stud while waiting for the sensor to arrive...
