I'm in a situation. My laptop says that file "\WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM" is either missing or corrupted when it boots after the BIOS. Unfortunately, I can't find my set up disc. I have a driver recovery CD, but it doesn't boot, same error. My disc from the desktop says that these recovery files are incompatible with this system.

Is there a way I can get my desktop disc to work? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as long as they don't include the Fbomb, "Format." LOL, I really don't wanna go that route.

    TIA,
    Larzzzz

remove the hard drive and slave it to another computer, once the drive is detected go to my computer, find the drive, right click and go to properties, go to tools, select check disk, should go through 5 phases (takes about an hr) once its completed connect it back to your laptop and boot up
