I have a 2007 tacoma that the limited service campaign falls under. But due to the Fabtech lift that was installed on my truck, Toyota warranty does not want to honor their campaign due to the install requiring the rear cross member having to be cut. Which in all means voids the "warranty". There are holes and excessive corrosion on the frame. I brought my truck in for the frame assessment but due to the cut frame they won't honor a frame replacement. Is anyone else in the same boat as I am? Driving a rotten piece of crap.

What would you like them to do? Modify your truck back to stock at their expense or cut the new frame for your lift?

I don't think I would perform the Limited Service Campaign on a customer modified frame either. I think you are asking too much.

    My 2 cents.

Well your mods didnt cause the holes in the frame, we all know that, so I say they should honor it...

I wouldnt expect them to make your truck the same as it is now tho, they could go back to stock height. If you wanna do that.

Agreed. Toyota messed up, atleast make right what they're guilty off. I figure I bought a truck that would last me decades, yet it has as much rott if not more rot than a 89 toyota truck.

Again just wanting to know if anyone else is in the same boat as I am.

I would only want them to fix what they messed up with. Wouldn't you want the same?

Ohh well, shit happens! I'm just hoping I get another 5 years out of the truck before it deteriorates away.

I'm with jimmy too, I'm fuct. One of those ohh well, life goes on. The different dealer wouldn't work out since the paper work goes to corporate toyota. And that I'm on an island with I only 1 toyota dealer. I'll just have to hope someone t bones my truck and claim insurance. And hope I don't get hurt as bad. As bad as that sounds.

Still waiting on others in the same boat as I am though.

Not a shot. If someone brings their car in for a repair of a part that someone else "fixed" I would say take it back to them. Toyota is the only one replacing frames at all and trust me we see some pretty rotted frames on the big three's trucks that are downright unsafe and not a single one is replaced by the dealer. If you have your frame cut and parts installed it is your responsibility but if Toyota does it then they are responsible and that is not something they are going to take on.

The holes in the frame are not OP's fault, they're Toyota's. Toyota's negligence is still gonna ruin OP's truck and possibly put him in danger, which is what this recall is all about.

If Yota could show that his mods directly caused the holes in the frame, then i would understand. But we all know the frames are shit no matter what. They should offer to frame swap and put back to stock (also requiring OP to obtain stock parts- shocks, wheels etc.)

My lifted truck was frame swapped and re-lifted with no issues (granted no cut frame, but still)

There is no way they are going to replace a frame with additional labor or put some one else’s parts on. If the dealership hands Toyota a modified frame they will not honor the swap. This is not a mandated repair this is being done as a good will gesture by Toyota it is not a federal recall, bottom line they really don't have to do it.

Arent they doing the recall to avoid being negligent? To proactively avoid someone being killed and/or them getting sued? I dont think theyre doing just it to be nice.

Yota put my aftermarket parts back on, and made sure all my aftermarket electronics worked (aftermarket backup cam, bed lights, etc.)

I understand Yota isnt going to do anything for him, but that doesnt make it right.

No, Toyota is not alone the others just keep it under wraps they ALL rot at least up in the salt belt. The bottom line it is way beyond any perforation warranty or obligation. Toyota is going out of their way to make it right in most cases. Up here we know they are going to rot (all of them not just Toyota) and take precautions to try and reduce it if we expect to keep them 10 + years.

If you want it fixed then you might as well sell your truck and buy another one.

Up here? I am in MN, just as bad or worse than Maine. Sounds like you're saying these Yota frames are just as good as any other vehicle's frames, and that's just not correct. Vehicles up here have their bodies rust out way before the frames, and that's why people get rid of their vehicles most the time. Sure other frames get rusty, but not to the extent of a taco frame.

I understand that it's a "voluntary" recall, but they only say that because the recall isnt a judgement from a lawsuit, therefore were not forced by law to do the recall.

Anyway i think were on the same page (kinda), we both know he's not gonna get a new frame. I just dont agree with that because he didnt cause the frame damage. Yota's crappy frame company did.
