Hello all, I'm brand new to tacomaworld and also new to owning my first tacoma. I just purchased a 2000 tacoma xtra cab 4x4 3.4l. It is bone stock. I am dying to take it off road. I am looking for a good fishing spot that requires a 4x4 vehicle to access. Nothing to extreme just the use of 4x4. Hope some of you could help. Thank you.

I don't fish but have driven the dirt roads both north/south of the 17 along the Verde River. There are tons of side roads that lead down to the river. In general the farther north of Clarkdale you go the higher up the canyon is from the river and the more difficult to climb down. Everything from Cottonwood south is easy access but 4x4 is often required.

Thank you. I was actually looking at horse shoe reservoir along the Verde river. I was using Google Earth to see how to get there and what kind of trails they are.

It's been a while since I drove to Horseshoe reservoir but I remember the dirt roads being hilly and not too bumpy with washboards (good for going fast in 4hi). I got there from taking Scottsdale road to Cave Creek road and then turning right onto bartlett dam road before hitting seven springs road. then take a left at horseshoe dam road (205). I remember there being signs.

If you keep going north on Cave Creek to seven springs you can drive approx 35 miles on fast dirt roads to bloody basin road. then its just another 7 miles east to Sheeps Bridge at the Verde river. Not sure how good fishing is there but ive seen people fish there.

That helps a lot. Again thank you. I'm gonna try to get out some where in a couple of weekends.
