Ouch. For that money, I would be calling it character.

That would be easier to agree with if it wasn't for the sad fact of it being a mail box... Tree on a trail maybe, mailbox...?

Did I miss it or did you say how you managed to hit your mailbox?

I hit a road sign with a 2002 Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 (manny tranny) when it was about a month old and only a few thousand miles. I'd dropped a CD and bent over to pick it up.

Not wanting my rates to increase, I paid for the repair out of pocket. Just my luck...on the way home from the shop that fixed it...another Tacoma backed into me at a F'ING stop light. It was an old lady so I let it go even tho it was worse than when I hit the road sign.

That's not 2K worth of damage...this isn't a BMW. Remove the fender flare, you got two dents that a paintless dent repair person can pop out again. The gouge in paint and the rest of the scratches on the truck and fender flare will require some minor body to clean up the edge and then they have to color blend the paint. I say that's about $600 at most... but if you want to pay $2K, I'm sure there are shops that will take that. Shop around at good shops and find your price. Go to to the dealer body shop and be prepare for some anal massaging.

I rode my fence and scratched up my flares. I bought my Bushwackers sooner than I planned.

Did this to my wife's Camry backing out of the garage (which was shut when I got in the car) and hit a guy's scooter who parked right behind our car when he was building our fence. Did this a few weeks after we got her new car.

We just got my Tacoma last week and let's just say I am limiting her Tacoma time to hopefully prevent any retaliation she may have planned...Haha

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
I had a whole door replaced (with an OE door, not aftermarket), finished and components transferred and the access door repaired/painted for $1600 at an independent shop.

If you are really serious about fixing that, you need other estimates.

Or, take the thing out through the woods and brush and even things up a bit, and enjoy not worrying about scratches and dents anymore. Use the repair $ saved to take a little vacation.

I'll second a paintless dent repair place. Wife's 4runner had a massive door ding in the passenger side door. Repair guy went through the window channel opening with tools and it's impossible to tell where the dent used to be. It was a few hundred bucks (three different dents on two panels was about $600 total).

I don't want to flame anyone here..

The thing is, it makes me physically sick when I read something like this. I am trying to scrounge the money together for a suspension upgrade and then I read that someone is seriously considering spending more money than my suspension would cost... to fix some fucking scratches. Really. Really? Just... gahh!

Not even taking into account how much money $1800 is.. Just the principal alone. Spending money to fix scratches on a... wait for it.. ....TRUCK?!?!:cookiemonster:
