The covers we offer are for our ball-joint upper arms, not our uniball arms. Their are no issues running the covers since the ball-joint is completely sealed on the top side and is encased in grease internally. The cover is more so decorative to close off the machined cup the ball-joint presses into and doesn't allow water and dirt to collect up on top of it.

Sorry for taking so long to get back, Moving to Guam has taken up a lot of my time. I really like them, no issues whatsoever. They are solid, no squeeks, can have the cover on with no ill effects :D, and look great. I did reuse the UCA bolts but have a new set for a spare incase I had to cut one.

No worries. Thank you. I haven't installed mine yet. I was planning to install them at the same time with the front struts, but I haven't found anyone with a spring compressor. Stay safe.

More shit then I ever planned on doing
I have a question. Just ordered a King coil over set up and Icon uniball UCA's for my 2015 DC TRD OR. Does anyone have any feedback on Icon UCA's? I've noticed a lot of you guys are running LR, Cambrdge, TC. Not too many running Icon UCA's. This will be my second setup because i opted to save $ and go with a pro crap kit the first go around and want to make sure i get this right this time. Also want to make sure the icons will help with my alignment issues.

I'll be replacing the factory UCAs this winter. I've looked at the LR and see how camber and caster are adjustable on them, but I'm really thinking of getting the Camburg balljoint UCA. Is there any adjustment on them, or do they just put the wheel at a better angle to use the adjustments on the LCA?

Heavily leaning towards Camburg at the moment.

What's the difference between the ball-joint and uni-ball? Application? Maintenance?

Other than the bearing itself being different... the balljoint UCAs provide many of the same benefits our uniball upper arms offer at a lower cost. They also come with the sealed machined covers to help with dirt and debris. The Uniball UCA features a bigger stronger 1.25 Uniball bearing. This is allows more wheel articulation and increased wheel travel. We do not have a cover for the uniball ucas just yet. As far as maintenance goes, like any kind of aftermarket part, they will be some kind of upkeep. The uniball, like any kind of bearing, needs to be kept clean and well lubricated using Tri-Flow or other Teflon based dry lubricant. You can also use WD-40 as a mild solvent to keep it clean and squeak free. Any bearing will make noise if it is dry, dirty, or is damaged or worn out. The ball joints are a little less maintenance. Keep it greased and you're good to go. The ball joint ucas are a better option for wet and harsh road conditions due to the sealed and greased balljoint.

Sounds like these would be better for sloppy MN winter roads, where we use a shit ton of salt.

So just to be clear, the ball joints provide these benefits as well, correct? Compared to stock.

The uniball will give you more wheel travel because of the bearing but the balljoint has the same corrected geometry by increasing more castor for better aligning and handling.

Uniball Camburgs for over two years, not one peep. I may be the exception, but I'm very happy.

All uniballs regardless of brand can and will make noise when they are dirty, worn out, too tight or if the uniball mis-alignment spacers are binding within the uniball. If they are installed with no issues and clean, their should be no reason for them to make excessive noise. Sounds like something else is going on.

I would recommend pulling it apart and taking a look at everything. Really take a look at the leading edges of the mis-alignment spacers that transition into the radius of the ball. I've seen quite a few people/shops damage that edge since it gets very thin, when installing them and it causes the uniball to make noise since it's constantly rubbing on the inside as the suspension moves up and down and you're steering left to right. If that's the case it could be solved with a little fine filing to knock down the burr or worst case the spacer needs to be replaced if its damaged significantly.

If it makes it easier give me a call at the shop and I can explain it more in depth.
