That technology is thermodynamic bullshit. You have to use electrical energy to separate the water into it's components, hydrogen and oxygen. When you recombine them again in the engine you'll necessarily get less energy back than you used in the first place to make the hydrogen. You'd be better off not doing anything in the first place. If it really were the case that you got more energy out than you put in, then you have just constructed a free energy machine.

Water electrolysis works just fine and there's nothing special about it. The issue with that water powered car system is that it makes it claims to use the cars engine. If you used your home hookup to the grid to run the electrolysis then transported the hydrogen to your vehicle, then the car would be getting some additional external energy. This is already an idea kicking around with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The problem is setting up a home electrolysis system with the required pressure to store a useful amount of hydrogen is prohibitively expensive. Also fuel cell vehicles don't explode the hydrogen to drive pistons, they convert hydrogen directly into electricity.

I talked with him on FB messenger and he said he only tested them on dirt roads but he said at low speeds both motors felt similar. Hard to gauge engine at a max of 10 mph though.

So, that dash piece is orange/red no matter what color you get on the exterior? Is that true, or was that sarcasm from earlier?

I'm more looking forward to what forced injection is going to bring to the table with this 3.5L.

Look at the Ecoboost. 3.5 with 350+HP and 400+ Ft/Lbs.

I think you mean forced induction...

TRD isn't putting out any more supercharges. It'll be interesting to see who does. With the Atkinson cycle I'm sure the engine would behave differently at cruise which may need some fancy ECU tuning or other measures to make good power and leave the Atkinson cycle as a viable mode of operation.

The problem is Toyota isn't setting this motor up for forced induction. Toyota is not continuing the TRD supercharging program.
