Where is that write up about the sloppy steering. I tried looking for it, but didn't find it (user error, I'm sure) :)

I've already got another truck (2007 Ford), had it for a while but favored the Tacoma for my daily driver. Probably just going to start driving it and pocket the money from the buy-back. Will miss the Tacoma for sure...

Glad to hear all these stories about the high mileage Tacos. I bought a 138k mile '99 TRD Pre a couple months ago, and I'm really digging it. In fact my pocket rocket Mazdaspeed3 has been collecting dust just sitting there while I drive the rough riding, slow as hell Taco everyday. I'm looking forward to many many more miles in it.

In a related testament to Toyota longevity, my bro in law recently donated his 2002 Corolla that he bought new. Granted, it was almost all highway driving, but he Mobil 1'd it every 10k miles up until he got rid of it at 370k. He never changed anything on it other than timing belts and tires. It had the original muffler, and - no kidding - the original brakes. Sounds impossible, but when you have a 90 mile commute on an easy (Indy to Ohio) commute, it's easy to rack up the miles without touching the brakes. Still, what a car. I wish he would've donated it to me... :D

1999 3.4 trd 4x4....original one owner....234,500 miles.... Only normal maintenance, a battery, an alternator, u-joints, 4th set of tires, and getting ready for a second timing belt. Also going to replace the water pump and gasket when it goes in. Frame checks out good every time it goes in for oil changes.

The truck has never let me down. Still runs strong. Ac blows ice cold. And will go places off road that still amazes me.

Will never sell it....and will be my 2 year old sons 16th birthday present.

I've got a 99 V6 Taco with 251,000k. Outside of oil and standard maintenance, only stuff I do is the timing belt and water pump each 100k. Have never had a problem outside of the starter, but thanks to a lifetime warranty with NAPA, that and the tow are now 100% free.

The only thing that kills these trucks in the oil pump, which typically fails around 300k. Replace your oil pump and she'll continue forever.

    Thank you taco. Thank you.

7K loan payment of 206 for 36 months will represent 416 interest.

Radiator and hoses ; timing belt and water pump at 208,000 miles

    Engine Foam degreaser 3.50

All the following just done at Ricky's Toyota 7-28-2015

USD$489 for Labor \gaskets\ seals\transmission parts required for the Front and Rear ATF flush work to resolve the oil leak problem. Done with Toyota parts and full synthetic Valvoline ATF 5 gallons $77.36

Also Rick discovered previous owner disconnect \ shout down the check engine light. Computer showed code P0171 now fixed and Passed the Texas Inspection report that was due this month.
Motor flush treatment (gunk $4.84) to remove Dino Oils.
Switch to Supertech Full Synthetic Oil and OEM filter ($21.60)
    Install Wheelocks $15.
Install new OEM engine air filter $20.16 .
Chassis Saver Black Paint labor on the skid plate and some arms at the front wheels suspension.

So far including the financial charges for the loan , the Tacoma had cost me USD$ 8,057.00
    :burnrubber::oldglory:

Many expend a lot more on upgrades without checking the frame and at the time they want to sell , well...everyone want it almost for free. My question will be ... is this too much expenses on this automatic 2000 TRD Off Road 4x4 Tacoma 1st generation?

Just got my 2000 Taco Xtra cab 5spd late march this year after my father in law passed. He took pretty good care of it. It is currently at 181XXX. Timing belt was done around 80K. I am taking it in soon to get timing belt, water pump, ac+ps belts, tensioner, radiator, and front brake pads.
I gotta look into all the other common issues and any thing that might be needed. but so far i love this truck! especially because its a 5 speed and its more nicer on gas than my tundra!

    Not enough...
I just bought '03 DCSB SR5 4 banger 5 lug with 200,000 miles on it. Was my friend's truck.

Needs a new valve cover gasket, new brakes, main seal is starting to leak, AC blower motor needs to be lubricated and I need to figure out what's going on with the front passenger window motor. It goes up 1", gets stuck and then 3 minute later goes up another inch and gets stuck again. Other than that this truck has no problems whatsoever. Took it to 3 different shops before buying it to see how much money would I need to put into it.

My 1999 v6 sr5 4x4 has 276000+ miles on it and still going strong. I replaced all ball joints and tie rod ends about a year ago. I have a valve cover leaking , so a water pump , timing belt , and gaskets replacement is in the near future. Hope to get many more miles out of it.
