I tried, the show was awful. Not sure what was worse, the accents, the music, poor unorganized driving or the general boring driving through what looked like someone muddy farm property. Ok maybe a little harsh but it was just not even remotely enjoyable to me.

I really enjoyed the first season and expedition overland. The second season is off to a slower start. Let's be honest, most of us want to watch everyone play trucks and use their fancy equipment. I think it is hard to capture that in a long over landing trip. A big part of what they are doing, as Kurt says, is meeting people and learning cultures and stuff. And yeah that stuff isn't nearly as exciting to watch as it is to actually doing. The drama stuff I'm sure partially comes from sponsors and stuff, the way they want it put together.
Either way I enjoy watching it. I appreciate the organization and "professionalism" if we can call it that. Getting everyone to work together and properly spot each other etc. It has to be tough to schedule and plan all that, especially for so many people. That's part of what I really enjoy about it, it's not just a couple of yahoos who threw a bunch of random junk together and took off without a goal or destination. Most of my trips are solo with a loose idea of where I want to go. Sometimes I join a group with someone else as the leader. But having a group like that from start to finish takes a ton of coordination and puts a lot of weight on one's shoulders to keep everyone safe and happy.

    Oh well this is awkward...

Like when you start talking about someone you thought had left the room but it turns out they were just behind your back.

    So... umm.... yeah....

I like the show and I have watched every episode of anything they have on their website at least once. I just like to bitch - more out of jealousy than anything else.

Clay seems likable enough, I can tell he'd be fun to hang out with long term but some of his charm is probably lost in translation to 30 minutes of video.

    Kurt,

Thanks for posting! I think it is cool as heck that you've taken the time and effort to respond here.

I think you'll find that the folks who are complaining do so because they enjoy the show and want more.

Personally I really enjoyed season one and the videos of past trips before the official first season. Alaska was probably my favorite. The sight seeing and culture stuff was indeed interesting!

This season has just this far been uneventful. Meeting the TRD guy and having him give hands on training is an honor to experience but doesn't translate into entertaining video I guess. Ivan was great to meet I'm sure but he got little screen time... let alone the viewer doesn't get too listen to him.

Getting sick in Mexico is common knowledge. Taking up half the episode showing people throw up seemed a bit too much. It just seems like that could have been condensed into a minute. Though I can understand how when your leader/video guy is sick it's more difficult to get good video.

I think this is all a good example of how certain events can be great memories to share but don't translate well as entertainment for others.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season though. I'm jealous that you folks get to take these trips and all the gear you get to play with!

BTW... Episode one teased us with video clips of the ladies and their separate trip. I thought we'd be seeing bits of their fun intermixed with the Mexico trip.

Any chance we get to see their trip this season? It looked like they were going to have fun.

Absolutely, their trip will be an integral part of the season as it develops. I'm not sure when they'll be intro'ed but I'd expect it in the next episode or two.

Episode 4 puts the series back on track for me. Would love to see some bonus footage from the ten days in Baja at some point.

That is one monster spider in Ep4. No way I'd be near that.

So where would one find the rails that connect the front bumper headlight guards to the sliders (fender Protection) like this Tacoma has . I've looked on ARB's website as well as many others and just can't seem to find them or the proper name.

The sliders and rails were custom fabricated by Dark Horse Customs in Montana.

:thumbsup:Thanks. I know I can make some probably very easily, I just wasn't sure who sells them because I've seen them on a lot of expo trucks and figured someone has to sell them......Tube bender and welder it is.

I gotta be honest, I was disappointed that they killed that spider.

I mean, I'm sure most people think it is an insignificant thing, like an insect; but in keeping with the "leave no trace" concept I think killing it was a really poor decision and bad in the overall karmic scheme. It wasn't hurting them or in any way causing an issue. They encroached on it's premises and then killed it basically to make interesting viewing. I'm not okay with that.

Agreed, I would have left it alone and just walked out once I spotted them. Catching it in a jar to check out then release back is one thing, but they shouldn't have killed it just because they found it.

I won't junk on their case for killing a spider. But I was surprised that they did just for fun.

Spider on my home, garage, or work dies every time. Out in the world? Only going to kill it if it is somehow impacting me and I can't just walk away.

And I'm NO fan of spiders. LoL

I consider myself a leave no trace person, but for me that means staying on the trails and packing out what I bring in. Ill kill a spyder though no problem. To each there own. I think its awesome there are those out there who wouldnt kill a spyder. Im just not one of those people.
