It will be interesting to see the unit work and reviews.

As far as the current system, it seems the nav unit with the larger screen has better reviews than the smaller non nav unit.

The current system is okay at best.
It has some really cool features like I was on the freeway and it rerouted me because there was an accident.

But some aspects of it feel old and dated.

There is room for improvement in the nav on my father-in-law's 2012 Highlander Limited. The screen is huge, but...the unit isn't intuitive to use. The Entune in my wife's 2013 Prius is fantastic, and easy to use. If they put it in the Tacoma, we'll be golden.

What I read into this, is that the standard app radio (Entune Plus) will now have navigation features available, making the Entune Premium (NAV) radio obsolete.

How do built in Nav systems get updated?

    Is there a cost?

How many years is the technology supported?

Thumb drive through the USB port. I've never had to pay for it yet, but the dealer did it during our last visit prior to the warranty running out.

I'm totally confused by what you guys are saying.... Is this Nav System designed to run off my cell phone..?? If so, it's NFG to me.. I was hoping they had a Garmin Unit built in....

    Any help..??

It works through your phone to use special features, but it does have its own maps.

I would rather have an after market unit twice as good and quarter the price and for less that the diagnostic fee when it breaks you can unplug the old one and plug in a new one . I can't believe the people who want all that crap built if from the manufactures knowing they use the lowers bidder and quality they can contract.

I downloaded the Scout GPS app to check it out. So I have the 2016 Tacoma nav system minus the truck :)

Runs off OpenStreetMap. Nearby places, gas, coffee, favorites. Same old stuff nothing new. Looks like you can add contacts and see where they are. Of course, the app can see where you are.

Good to know. I'm definitely getting the nav option when I get my 16, maybe 17.

If it doesn't have Apple Car Play or Android Auto then it's worthless. Get with the times Toyota, it's 20fucking15.
