    Auto is far better off road... on road, manual is better in my opinion, but my Tacoma is automatic so yea... Having auto is fine by me though, since I like not worrying about what gear I'm in.

    Goin' cheap to hold me off for a real lift. Shackle, springs and spacers. ome coils since my stock coils are sagging and bumper should be done soon. Sliders are being primed and painted in the mean time to stop the rusting. Will be put in storage will body work is done on the cab corner.

    That is purely a matter of opinion, you like not worrying about what gear your in, I like knowing for certain what gear I'm in. Also depends on the type of off reading, but it is most definitely not "far better"

    Dude, when I drove my buddys runner at eagles lake, I was in heaven, never wheeled a manual before. Twin sticks baby! Or was it triple? I don't remember, but it was bad ass !!

    U can install a soft topper with the ugly drop in bedliner...I just had to cut 4 small squares. Vuuuaaalaa! Lol

    I did pull the liner off too check for any issues. Non at all. Cleaned and re installed...then installed the topper. Super easy. Thanks to the @thegame .. Better

    It depends, if you're with a bunch of autos and they go slower. Then manual sucks because you're constantly on the clutch. Then 4lo is too slow. Big PITA. I've k my wheeled in a manual so I'm a bit biased ha. But going down hill is better in a manual because you don't ride your brakes all the time. They both have their ups and downs

    Yeah 95% of the time I don't mind my manual and everything is gravy. Like you said when we kept moving through the trail I was smooth as a cucumber but when it came up to certain obstacles I had to goose it more sometimes. There was only one other manual in my group aside from two runnin crawl boxes. Really made me consider one but I'll see how the truck does when I regear. The benefit offroad for an auto doesn't outweigh the pretending I have a race truck feel I have on road since it's my dd.

    Im not a certified tech but a house mechanic and been working on cars for decades. Been using most brands of oils and they are pretty much similar to one another. What convinced you as the user is the discriptions and writing on the labels.

    For every 3 quart of any oils just add 1 quart of Marvel Mistery oil with your oil change and youll be fine. Ive been using conventional oils for decades on my 01 taco and now she still runs like champs no major issues.

    Same I love manual and if I can that's all I'll drive. With work (right now) being 7 miles away I don't mind sitting in traffic with a manual for 20 minutes one way

    My take on manual vs automatic:

    Previous to the Tacoma, I had an '84 4runner with 5-speed, 4.88, OBA, lockers and Marlin crawl box. Offroaded it for 15 years, and I loved it. I finally 'retired' from SERIOUS offroading, and sold it. :sadviolin:

    i now have an auto, and love it as well. I can go over obstacles smoothly and quietly, stalls are almost impossible :yay:. The slippage of the torque converter makes up for not having crawler gears, and absorbs drive-line shocks when bouncing (I'm thinking I'm less likely to break u-joints an gears on the trail). I still have complete control over what gear I'm in (its not a golf-cart, there is a wonderful little lever with D/2/1/R and an OD button :D ).

    The biggest down-side, for me, is not being able to push-start it, if necessary. However, I've always maintained my rigs meticulously, so I've never had to do that on the trail (fingers crossed).

    My biggest concern about getting/having a crawl box is I worry it will take away some of the fun of wheeling. I mean I know everything we do to our trucks makes it so the rig is more capable. I want to keep hitting harder and harder trails to get the same rush I do on the little trails and the more capable/easier it is to do with a setup rig, the less pit of your stomach feeling you have. That's why ultimately as much as I love crawling and rocks, I want to set my truck up more for go fast stuff since hauling down a trail at 60-80 mph will always be exhilarating to me. We'll see where life and budget lets me take my manual in the future.

    I do like the auto wheeling and its not to bad on the road even though id prefer a manual. What i really dont like is the fact i can choose what gear im in to keep it from the unnecessary downshifts.

    HMM i hope they are not over tighten but i believe from the sides being curved and the pic angle give an illusion
