    Bought a new Tacoma 4x4 this month. Salesman said when doing heavy duty trails to switch the ATC and airbag off or else 4x4 wouldn't work and I could deploy the air bag.

    What do you think?

    Wtf was he smoking about 4x4 not working.
    4x4 will work anytime.
    Now about ATC, when turned off the traction contol is turned off and you can slide. With it left on the brakes kick in and help you regain traction. There are two setings for that button. Read the manual.
    As for airbags when you go offraod and go on steep angles the bags can deploy thinking you might flip over.
    I have been on some steep shit and bags still ok. So i think unless you are getting really crazy they are fine left on.

    Now that i think about it i have only used A-Trac one time and that was just to test it. I have not needed it since.

    The traction control or lsd doesn't work worth the crap anyway. If you're doing serious offroading, you'll be in 4Lo and that shuts the traction control off automatically. The side curtains still need turned off if going for some really off camber stuff
