Since then, there's been press releases all over the place, from both sides. Straight outta middle school.

I'm expecting one from Brieber later this week that ends with "Roger is a meaniehead with a stupid face"

    Deflate gate.

I like how Brady just happened to break his phone with all the texts on it. Too bad they can't subpoena the records from the phone company. I'd be pretty funny to see.

I think they can but it would take a court order which neither side really wants. If they get his phone records you can bet the Brady side would try to get the wells/goodell/other owner emails etc.

Yeah, it's never gonna get to that point. But would be entertaining non the less. I get Brady defending his innocence, so as to not look like a cheater. But at some point it'd probably be smart to just take the suspension and move on. The quicker it's over with, the quicker people will move on and forget.

Got any examples? It doesn't matter that Allen has all of that money when they still have to abide by the salary cap. I have no idea how it works in the NBA, but the Seahawks need to balance paying these guys a fair salary while staying within the cap. It is a problem everyone has seen coming for a few years now. I believe next year the cap jumps another $10 million which I am sure is impacting the contracts now.

It's about the same in the NBA. Salary cap and all, which is about to skyrocket after next years season. The Spurs for example have the whole balancing salaries thing down to the tee.

Frankly, that's too much money. On a 1 to 1 scale, he's nowhere near Aaron.

That said, in that system, with that coaching staff, they make it work as we've seen, so I can't really fault them too much. I like the big guarantees. Given how much of the risk is on the player, I can't wait for the day these BS contract numbers go away and the contracts have to be guarateed at signing.

I think Russell is worth it considering his time in the league and his accomplishment over the last 3 years.

I agree that Aaron Rodgers is the better QB, no doubt. However, what has that done for GB lately? 2011 Seahawks season with a similar top ranked defense and Marshawn Lynch.... 7-9, no playoffs. That team had Matt Hasselbeck at QB who is no star but he was a fine starter.

I'm not predicting anything, but there's a decent chance that in 5-7 years Russell Wilson is going to look like Joe Montana. Not putting up gawdy yards and TD numbers but always posting a 100 QBR and a few SB victories. In my mind Aaron Rodgers is Dan Marino, even though Rodgers won one. Big numbers but GB should have won another SB or two by now.

That's not a bad way to look at it. Rodgers is an excellent example of 'the offense can only take you so far', which is why I'm so confused as to why Capers somehow STILL has a job. Every. Goddamned. Year.

I was curious so I took a look at Joe Montana's stats...

    Montana:
    Career Qbr: 92.3
    Career TD/Int Ratio: 2:1
    Career Comp %: 63.2
Avg 3 year stretch of yardage: 10k
Avg healthy year TD passes: 23
Seasons started with the salary cap which was introduced to the NFL in 1994 : 1
    SB wins/appearances first 3 full starting years (81,82,83): 1/1

    Wilson:
    Career Qbr: 98.6
    Career TD/Int Ratio: 3:1
    Career Comp %: 63.4
First 3 years passing yards: 10k
Avg TD thrown per year: 24
    SB wins/appearances first 3 years: 1/2

    Weird eh?

It's the last two that are important.

Montana's best years came with no salary cap, back in the 80s. When the cap got instituted, he was just about done. He got the Chefs to the playoffs IIRC, but that was it.

In this era of QBs not getting beaten up and defenses having to let WRs run all wild on them, PLUS the salary cap, it's a whole different animal.

IMHO Russell Wilson is worth what the most desperate team would pay for him. I can bet the Bills would jettison half their team to be able to get him. Wilson was one stupid throw away from two super bowls, he is worth what ever he can get.

Aye, Montana was throwing to Rice, Jones, Craig, Taylor etc.

Wilson throws to Doug Baldwin... Doug fucking Baldwin.
