I purchased a timing belt kit on eBay

I installed it with no complications

The engine ran. Then I got a check engine light.

I took it apart and I found a hole in the timing belt cover 11322-62901, a rip in the timing belt, and broken wiring for the cam position sensor 90919-05021

My guess is that I did not tighten a bolt, it fell off and it broke the items

I bought a new belt. I patched the cam sensor wiring.

When I went to put it on it was way tighter than the first one – I put it together anyway

The engine will not idle – I can run it above 2000 rpm but it will not run under that

I took it to Pep Boys and they told me that I had assembled the belt correctly, but I needed to replace the computer (they did put in a new cam sensor)

I bought a used computer and took it to the dealer to program

The dealer told me that it is not the computer. The problem is that I need new spark plugs and wires, and I need a compression test.

I took it home and replaced the spark plugs and wires. I did a dry and wet compression test. All is good.

Then I thought that I had purchased the incorrect belt the second time. I bought an O.E. one on eBay – it was the same size. I went to the dealer and bought one, it was the same size. ALL ARE TOO TIGHT!

How can I get the engine running?

It is new (with the kit) It worked when I put the first belt on
I put it in a vise and put the pin back in when I reassembled it
    How do I check it?

I have reassembled this over 10 times
