The TPMS sensors on my stocker steelies from my 2006 Prerunner will work with either steel or alloy aftermarket wheels...does the guy I spoke to know what he's talking about? I had heard that sensors from steel wheels will not work with alloys and vice versa. What's the real answer?

He said they take the sensors off my wheels and install them on the new, and program them at their shop...anyone done this?

I had pretty much resigned myself to getting steel replacement wheels 'cause I didn't want to shell out more $$ for new sensors, but that was before I talked to this guy....

Or painting my wheels a different finish...

Yup, had mine done too...steel to alloy and no problems, they don't need re-programming so don't let them charge you for that.
