You are probably right in the sense that a dealer that moves more might have a larger dealer holdback. I'm not sure how Toyota does it. Invoice would be the same but some dealers that move more will make more per a vehicle. What dealers like is the vehicle is "sold" and is not going to be sitting on the lot for 2 weeks-6 months (taking up space and $$$).

    www.autocheatsheet.com/new-car/dealer-holdback.html

You are rarely going to find a dealer that sells an order at invoice (it is possible). If you shoot for $500 over you are more likely going to get someone to jump on it. They would make the $500 + any hold backs on the vehicle and most of all it would not be sitting on the lot for an unknown time. I'm just trying to share some pointers. Of course, this being a redesign it might not be easy to get a deal on a order on the first wave of trucks.

So you will be paying 1500 more than the dealer's invoice

No, I actually paid about $250 over invoice. My deposit was put toward my purchase and was "deducted" from the amount owed. The Invoice price went up about $250 from my time of order to time of delivery but the dealer decided to eat that amount and charged me the price that I was given 3 months earlier.

How did you discover their invoice price?

Depends on the vehicle. Sometimes people post them to forums. Edmunds.com in a good source online. Their print out was spot on to the dealer print out I got on my last vehicle.

I have called several local toyota dealers in my area and they won't give out very much info on the new tacoma. The best I got out of any of them was a range from late August to early November before any would reach the lots.

No offense but I find this hard to believe unless invoice is only $1-2k below msrp, make sure to post your deal sheet.

I'm not talking about a 16 tacoma. I was referencing a 14 Raptor I purchased. I was more clearing up some of the things stated in this thread about ordering a vehicle. I probably still have the sheet. If I remember correctly sticker and invoice was around a 4k difference. I think a hair under.

no but special allocation requests prior to general allocation requests did open up from what I have heard :)

so those that are in very deep with your dealer will get a special call to get in on the special train.

Yes. They "hijacked" the initial allocation and changed the specs on it. Details in the Allocation Orders thread.

Captain Ameritruck is coming together. :oldglory:

It's going to be a lot of what is in the TRD Off-road right now, but it comes standard with crawl mode, locking differential, terrain assist, cruise control, steering wheel controls I believe. The things I were not sure about were automatic dimming rear view mirror and the wireless charging port. I can tell you for sure the things that are included in the extra package that I don't need so won't be ordering. Auto AC, heated front seats, parking sonar, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, auto headlamps, and moonroof for DC trucks, and according to this you have to get all that stuff in order to get the JBL audio upgrade which kind of pisses me off but I'll find an aftermarket upgrade someplace.

The TRD Pros are no longer. The designing engineer said they are not offering Pro in the 2016 line of trucks but it may come back later.

Well yeah, they haven't retooled the line and started production yet.

Don't try to put yourself in suspended animation to wake up in October, either...

My local dealer in Colorado said "They will start building last few days of August, and we'll have some mid-September."

Someone posted a lengthy conversation they had with their dealer who confirmed that around 2000 pros would be built this year. He also said customized ordering will be possible, as well.

    So who knows
