i bought a tacoma recently and i was looking into getting the TRD supercharger kit, unfortunately i was little too late and every last one is apparently spoken for so i was looking at the other supercharger kits available but it seems like slim pickins for the 4.0 engine does anyone have any suggestions, also i was looking for something comparable in specs to the trd one i dont want a crazy setup just a mild boost thats 48 state legal like the trd one

    Welcome to TW!

Yes, you are late to the game to try and get a TRD supercharger. Best bet at this point is to visit dealers in person (some won't tell you they have one on the phone), or look to aftermarket venders like LCE that sell the OEM units. There are other aftermarket superchargers available, like URD though I am unsure about their emissions legality.

This thread is the one that most follow for where to find the superchargers/availability info:

Guys, my mind is blown. I live in Dallas and work near Irving. I had the dealership install a TRD blower on my 2012 TX Pro a couple years ago. $5000 for blower, fit kit and install, out the door. I traded that Tacoma in on a GT 500 when I moved to Dallas.

My advice, do not pay more than $5000 for this charger. I love Toyota and the Tacoma. I have owned 5 of them. I am actually considering a Tacoma for my wife and decided to see if the new model Tacoma would support a supercharger. That search brought me here, where I have an old membership. Im sure I have some old posts on this site. I had no idea the blower was no longer sold and demand was going nuts.

Lets be real for a minute here. I loved my TRD supercharger and cant believe its no longer being produced. The stock truck is 260 HP at the flywheel, and the blower takes it to 304 HP. Account for 15 percent drive train loss on the truck and we are talking about weak numbers. If you cant get this for $5000 save your money and buy something with real power. The Supercharged truck isnt fast anyway, it sounds good and has great whine, but its not like it will pin you to the seat or anything. It might run a 6 second 0-60.

Before anyone gets offended, understand I live Tacomas. But you are getting raped if you pay more than $5000. $5000 is even questionable for 64 crank horsepower. Heck, I got 50 rwhp gains from a tune and CAI on my 2014 GT500. Save your money.

On a side note, Im calling this Irving Toyota location in the morning. If they have any chargers and fit kits left I will go tomorrow and buy two. I will sell them for $600-$700 more than I pay. Thats way better than these rapers on Ebay. $15,000, $20,000 for a rebranded Magnuson Supercharger that increases power by 50 Rwhp (64 crank HP)? Please.

I will let you guys know if I score a blower.

And what happened to URD. In 2012 everyone was mad about the URD Supercharger and the device that allowed you to avoid the PCM reflash. Is that blower no longer sold either? Gadget was a big deal back then.

Sure buddy, it's not a lot of HP but there is no other option. And good luck finding one you scumbag, buying to just resell at a profit.

Why don't you and your buddy Donald Silly Hat ask your friends at URD since Donald is friends with everyone.

    BTW, I have mine.

And happy you. Not like most peeps and Donald, we can't afford a GT500 AND your looking at another car?

Gadget has never released another. ECM can't be decoded I guess. AND engine is being discontinued. No profit, Donald Knows.

At the "profit" he's selling them for he's really just reserving them for a fee. I'd rather give him an extra $500 than give someone on ebay a couple grand.

I'm calling today to see if I can have a local dealer dig one up. He seemed confident he could... but that was a month ago. It's been a wild month...

Was silly, you're trying to help. I hate profiteers and folks like Donald Funny Hat.

    I apologize.

Selling parts that don't fit..... Blaming the CUSTOMER for it.

    Releasing uconn with flaws

Offering piss poor fit of the maf sensor seat on his intake and not giving 2 shits

Reengineering parts that I said didn't fit, and not telling customers he did this, leaving us feeling incapable of simple installs

    Not honoring prevalidated safety/gov discounts

Having to be sent letters from attorneys to recoupe owed monies

    It's also on YouTube somewhere

I had a half dozen private messages from ppl here and on xru with issues when I made a thread yrs ago.

He actually couldn't install his own mk2 exhaust on a customers truck at the shop...... That's the ONLY reason he changed a few bends..... To save his own ass, yet he didn't tell anyone about it but slipped it out when I talked to him.

The problem is too many people are afraid to upset G...... I can ki da understand that. They ended up reworking parts themselves, selling them off, or left them in garage. He isn't a god, he's a salesman..... No more, no less.

The poor maf seating issue lends itself to rain hitting the element and causing the truck to stumble on its face for a split second..... NOT WHAT U WANT WHEN GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC.

I've been thru 2 of his intakes in a span of 3 yrs assuming the first mistake was a fluke.

His comment is always the same to everyone I have spoken to.

"We have sold XXX of these and this is the first time we have ever heard of this problem". ......... It's a cookie cut, bullshit, take no responsibility reply.

I don't have the uconn and out of respect for 2 very dear friends and VERY VERY well known performance members here on TW and xru, I will not get into that....... But there are known issues.
