That was me in the allocation orders thread. It was a large Colorado dealer that told me today that the TRD Pro was back for the Tundra and the Tacoma. We were walking through options - I was trying to get him to email me some info (he didnt fall for that) but he said ' ... Sr,SR5,TTD Sport, TRD, OR. Limited and the TRD Pro but it will be a special order truck' - I called it out and said Toyota said no TRD Pro and he said ' .. right, I watched that interview too and when I saw the code come up for the Tundra which was not supposed to have a TRD Pro for '16 either I called to confirm that and they said yes and you will be able to get the Tacoma too but in very limited numbers - maybe 2000 total ... '

I really don't have that much interest in the TRD Pro as I am 99% sure I want a DCLB and my off roading is mostly fire road with the occasional more difficult situation that I accidentally wander into ... but I don't necessarily seek out things that would warrant the Pro. But if it was available in LB I just might for the heck of it - I'm sure I can do the mods to make an equivalent for less but doubt I will be bothered.

Pretty sure the 'no trd pro' comment was from the January interviews with the group manager who's name escapes me.

I don't care about the pro either, but your original post mentioned ordering could be done. You made it sound like it was more an ordering system than an allocation trade system. Is that what he told you? It would be nice

I just saw this thread and have to say I like pyrite mica at least 3,000 times more than sand storm. Ha

I do wish more vehicles came in a variation of brown though. Not poo brown, but like pyrite mica or the Jetta even.

Not really, he said it was still allocation but that he could get whatever I wanted since they are not built yet. Figure it is just like if you were to try and order a '15 - he only gets certain numbers of vehicles but he can order his allocation of each type however he wants and trade with others to get more or less of each type.

It was in one of the interviews with the Engineer. He said they would not be continuing the pros

I'd imagine Toyota should be updating their website soon that currently shows that 2016 Tacoma as an "upcoming vehicle". I guess that will probably happen when production starts and MPG specs are out of the bag.

Someone on here said that the site should be updated this weekend or maybe early this week. Someone else noted that current incentives for 2015s end on Monday so Tuesday might be the day. We shall see...

They can post the 2016 on the website without having the epa mpg available. It'll just say TBD. Not uncommon. But when the stickers hit the windows they'll need that info.

Yeah, I'm just hoping to see it on the website soon. Likely will have more info, colors, configurations etc.

I was told by two dealerships that I could now order/allocate a truck. I am just waiting for some prices to be releases so I am not totally surprised. Production started this week!

I was told that too that they assign a vin number to a chassis and wait for similar orders to come through and then build them. Then they ship out orders starting from the west coast to the east coast.

Just remember you have the upper hand selling/trading your old Tacoma.

May rethink my 2016 pre-order that may or may not actually get shipped between now and November and get a deeply discounted 15. I'm betting on the mythical September rate hike by the fed to crush demand as the economy grinds to a halt and force dealers to deeply discount lots full of 2015s. I added up all the Toyota dealers inventory from surfing their sites and there are close to 600 2015 Tacos still sitting there. I keep offering 37 to a local dealer that has been sitting on a TRD pro for 4 months. He won't return my calls anymore. Even

I refuse to even talk to some salesmen. Make sure you get the right person to deal with. I have completely written off at least 4 dealerships because of their lack of knowledge. I have probably spent over 10 hours on the phone about the new trucks already. I am a sucker for the latest and greatest and now I'm hooked on the new truck. No turning back for me. Haha

    Too many to list
I think it's absolutely ridiculous how uneducated the sales staff are and they are trying to sell you something that costs so much and is such a large part of our lives! It's truly maddening.

Its kind of hard to know and learn something when the info isnt there. Toyota hasnt giving the dealers anything more than whats posted here.

I'm in for an offroad with the premium tech package for the moonroof. Has predator tube steps, a tonneau cover and exhuast tip listed as "options" that my dealer informed me will be more than the MSRP that I emailed him (shouldn't he be sending that stuff to me?) I want roof rails too so I'm sure that will add $1K to the MSRP sucker rape price. Maybe I should look into that XPLan pricing I get with the job?

yes they know general info about the vehicle

yeah my dealer knows less than I do

yes some dealers have high turnover if there are other like dealers nearby, my town, each dealer has a monopoly, nearest like dealer is 105 miles away, next is 200 miles away.

but ultimately, you have to remember that you are focused on 1 vehicle to remember everything. a sales person has to remember a lot about all the Toyota vehicles.

    4runner
    avalon
    avalon hybrid
    camry
    camry hybrid
    corolla
    highlander
    highlander hybrid
    land cruiser
prius (and there is 4 distinct models within the prius lineup)
    rav4
    sequoia
    tacoma
    tundra
    venza
    yaris

so all you high and mighty beating up these sales people, can you remember every little detail on every model and also every distinct difference within each model?

hell if you look at the 4runner, there is 5 configurations (SR5, SR5 premium, Trail Edition, Trail Edition Premium, Limited)

then you get into the Tacoma and there is 5 models (SR, SR5, Sport, OR, Limited), with 2 different bed lengths, options/colors that don't allow certain combo's?

and god forbid your dealer sells anything besides Toyota's and on top of that, all the used cars on the lot.
