I snapped the bolt that tightens 1 of the serpentine belts. Half of the bolt is still lodged in the pulley "bracket". Can I still drive while half of the bolt is still there?

With that belt removed you should be ok.

Not knowing what engine or what pulley it is only a guess.

if it is the tension bolt then after the pulley bolt is tightened it serves no purpose and you "could" go with it like that, but I wouldn't.

its best to remove the belt "just in case" rather then risk a belt coming off while driving and taking out all the belts causing $$$$ damage to lots of stuff

What kind of vehicle and can I get a close-up pic of the bolt and then the surrounding part of the engine?

I just picked up a bolt from toyota for 2 bucks. Half the bolt is still lodged in the pulley. I figure I just twist it out of the way. But now I know. If I needed to, I could just drive w/out the f^@king belt attached. Thanks guys.

wellll... thats why i asked what kind of vehicle. cause if you have a single belt. your alternator will not be working and you WILL kill your battery. and youll be just as screwed. you shouldn't drive without a belt unless it's an emergency. plus your water pump may not be working either, easily overheating your engine. so to be safe, you you can't just "drive w/out the f^@king belt attached". what's the belt running?

OK, no driving w/out belt attached. Well I just fixed the truck tonight. Took off the pulley, unscrewed the rest of the broken bolt, replaced it then put the pulley back on. Not easy, barely any room to work in. Thanks for the help, couldn't do it without you guys.

glad you got it all sorted out, and yes most things with these trucks you need baby hands to do without busting your knuckles or bleeding
