traction on the ramp might be the biggest issue...

So you will have to evaluate what your traction will be to drag the heavy boat up the slimy ramp. 2wd should work if the ramp is in decent shape, if on the ocean, retrieval might be high tide only.

6500 but You did not say how much that boat, motor, and trailer weigh. Depending on which model it could be more than the truck is rated for especially once it has fuel and added equipment. Even if the weight is not more than the truck is rated most likely the truck will get stuck on some ramps even ones that are concrete not being a 4x4. I had that problem with another truck and it was the reason I went to a 4x4.

Never had a problem on any ramp with 18' bass boat and limited slip. I pulled a huge heavy pontoon type boat up a steep ramp with just rear wheel LS on F150. Non LS would not do it. Now there are ramps in west Texas where you might need a 4x4.

Yup anyway ty guys for all replies although internet says its only 3600 lbs which i dont know why it's only that , is it that make a huge difference with an extra axle to raise almost half of the tow cap

Don't trust the internet, LOOK IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, if it has the tow package, it is in the 6k range.

Being a Pre Runner it is rated at 3500# and if it has the full factory tow package (not a port installed hitch and only on V6 models) it ups the rating to 6300-6500# depending on body style. Though not 4x4 you do have a rear Locker so with some weight in the back you should be able to do most ramps as long as they are dryish. Specs came from my 2015 Taco Brochure.

Hey Justus, I know I'm showing my ignorance but please educate me as to what a break applied limited slip differential is. Could be the joke went right over my head. Been known to happen.

I must be getting old I cant for the life of me remember how we got our boat's in and out of the water with a passenger car back in the 50's and 60's when there were very few 4x4 vehicles. Oh and I'm talking some pretty heavy inboards.

Cars were prolly much heavier back then......specially consider the drive wheels on a CAR having the engine up there for ballast.

Tacoma has a large tub of plastic for weight over the drive wheels if 2wd
