Tires/Wheels

So I'm currently on stock 265/70/R16 tires with my 2010 Tacoma. Would going to 285/75/R16 require a wider wheel? Also, would 33" tires fit without some kind of suspension lift?

The pic shows with my current tires and stock suspension, also to note I do have the Offroad package.

 

Bumping this. Can anyone help? I'm pretty new and wanna make sure to buy the right tires/wheels along with the right lift.

 

As for the wider wheel it depends on which tire you buy. Recommended rim width sizes can be found on the manufacturer's website for each tire. You will have to either get aftermarket wheels with 4.5 inch backspace or wheel spacers otherwise you will rub on the control arms. 33" will rub with a 3" lift so yes they will rub a lot with no lift.

 

So if I buy 33's and put them on the stock wheels with a 3" lift I should expect them to rub?

 

You probably haven't gotten any responses because this topic has been beaten to death day in and day out. Try using the search feature and you will come up with a wealth of information. But yes you will need a lift to go up to a 285 size tire. You will probably need spacers if you go to a size 285 tire on an OEM rim I believe. But in the end the search feature is your friend.

Correct. They will more than likely rub the entire time. You can get new wheels or get wheel spacers, your choice

 

UPDATE. So I ended up going to Les Schwab and getting a 3 inch lift, 33x10.5x17 Toyo A/T and 17in wheels. Cost with installation was under 2400 and I'm quite pleased with the results. Here are a few before/after pics.
