Hey there, awhile ago I decided to fab up my own u bolt flip plates. They came out nicely but I'm having trouble finding u bolts. A few weeks ago my dad offered to pick up some u bolts from a local spring shop. I told him they should be 3 1/8" inside to fit the axle tube properly. What the guy at the spring shop did was take u bolts that were a bit over 3 5/8" inside and bend the two threaded ends together so that the very ends would fit the holes in my plates. So basically the u bolts I have are tear drop shaped. He said they would draw tight to the axle with some torque but I don't know...

So if this sounds like bullshit to you, where can I find proper u bolts? Awhile ago I found a website that sold nice hardened u bolts in the proper size but no matter how much I search I can't find it again.

    Any ideas?

Just today I went to a different spring shop and the guy there hooked me up! The new bolts fit perfectly to the plates I made. I even asked them to make me an add a leaf to help with my saggy rear. Should be able to pick it up next week. Keystone Spring in the Strip District for any local Pittsburgh folk!
