Either get an ARB air locker or a complete e-locker axle from a junkyard TRD off-road package along with the dash switch.

ARB air locker is your best bet.

    ARB's are $1,000 +

Is this all I need? plus a dash switch?

Most opt for the selectable because of the adverse driving manners that come with the Detroit, Lockwright, etc. ARB and elocker are OFF until you switch them on, so road driving manners are normal.

A lot of people are against 2wd getting lockers, so be prepared for the shit storm.:crapstorm: In my opinion, your best bet is to go with ARB. That's my choice once I get there. You'll need a compressor and associated air lines, etc. so it gets expensive fast, but you won't regret it. Then again, I would only suggest going this route if you will be doing some serious off-roading. Your truck is remarkable capable in stock form, even for a 2wd. Some experience off-road in various conditions will show you this. The LSD (with or without the switch) has some umph if you use it correctly. So if you really think you need it, do it!

Yes. I think 2011 and prior 2nd gens don't have the "easy button" to deactivate the traction control, but they still have a legitimate LSD in the rear. Could be wrong though. This has just been my experience in talking with other members and checking out their trucks.

2005-2008 TRD Sports have the mechanical LSD vs the 09 and up having the brake controlled LSD.

Back when I had my Silverado I used a Detroit Tru-Trac. I would leave on slicks grabbing a 150 shot out of the hole and hit it with another 100 kit around the 60/100ft area. That thing put up with ALOT of abuse and I never had one issue with it for 75,000+ miles after install. It was decently priced too.

Not sure if that's the type of info you were looking for, but it worked on my daily driver/race vehicle. Drove fine on the streets.
