Just finished installing the lift and the truck rides and looks great! I removed the overload bottom leaf all together and replaced with their progressive add-a-leaf (3 additional springs). Very smooth on pavement that has potholes and man hole covers and taken over a few curbs to test square edge bump compliance and all is well. Only issue I'm having is I have an odd vibration/shuttering from what feels like the rear end (could be wrong) when accelerating from a stop. It can be felt from the seat and slightly through the steering wheel. It happens at all throttle levels but only from 10-20 mph then goes away. Any idea what this could be? The kit came with rear axle shims so pinion angle should be okay. Thanks in advance!

    BTW, It's a 2015 DCSB Tacoma

I believe there's a known driveline vibration issue with Tacomas after being lifted. Could that be your issue?

I know places like Headstrong Offroad including the carrier bearing drop kit with their OME complete kits.

Just had my 3" lift added yesterday. Drives like before the lift.

I put the down south cb drop on mine and the vibes went away. I have the Toytec bilstein lift as well.

OP did you install the shims that come with the Boss kit? I left them out and I have the same vibration issue. I'm wondering if I should install them or just get the CB drop kit.

Yeah, I installed the rear differential shims in the correct orientation.

dont even bother spending 20 + shipping for a CB drop. Go to the hardware store, get two longer metric bolts (bring a proper sized socket with you to pull one of the bolts when you get there). and grab a bunch of fender washers. Then start at around a half inch thick of washers and add or subtract to change the height of the cb to find what works best for the vibes. Each truck will be different. Total spent will be less than 5 bucks and you will have a better outcome vs the cb drop "kits"

I ended up needing about 1.75" of drop to get the vibe to go away. I used a bracket with washers, I didn't like the idea of 1.75" of fender washers.

Yeah i would say if you needed that much for what ever reason, then go with a proper bracket setup. I wouldnt do much more than an inch with washers / spacers.

Does it happen in 4WD too?

I have the same setup and issues as the OP, minus the shims, and it does not shudder in 4WD.

If it goes away in 4WD, it is likely the front diff needle bearing. Its a common thing that makes itself known when you install a lift.

@ECGS has a awesome solution that replaces that needle bearing with once that has a much tighter tolerance.

Here is a thread about the front diff bearing issues and also outlines the ECGS bearing.

if its a 10-20mph vibe ill put money on rear driveline vibes a carrier bearing drop will help.

I installed the lift with 400 miles on the truck and noticed the vibration immediately. Does that make the worn needle bearing issue unlikely? I'm almost positive it's coming from the rear end as well.
OP, I hope you don't feel I'm hi jacking your thread, sounds like we both have the exact same issue.

I have the needle bearing issue around 40 mph, with 10k miles. It's not necessarily because it's worn- it vibrates because the driveshaft has a tiny bit more play after lifting. It's more noticeable on older trucks because the worn bearing makes it worse.

Like some of the above advice, at 20-30 mph I'd put my money on driveshaft angles, especially if it feels like it's coming from the rear as well.

If the vibe goes away in 4WD it's probably the needle bearing. If it doesn't, it's probably the carrier bearing. I have both issues, like many.

Thanks guys. I'll try the CB drop first and see if that helps.

Okay, installed the old man emu carrier bearing drop kit and the vibration is still there except the speed changed a bit.. It's 15-25mph now haha... Also tried it in 4WD and it is still there just feels a bit less and a different type of vibration (much higher frequency). Truck only has 2,500 miles on it btw. Thanks!

    Update!

    6,000 miles
    ECGS bearing installed
4 degree rear axle shim installed

    Still have vibration..

Will try dropping the carrier bearing further down and see what happens. The vibration goes away 90% when I put it in 4WD btw. I noticed when I had two dirtbikes in the back with gear (600lbs total) the vibration was significantly reduced in 2wd. Vibration only is felt on acceleration from 5-20mph then all is good even at 85mph!
