Ok, so I recently came across a couple of posts on the forum where people sounded quite sure that the original moon landing was entirely faked. Having never payed any attention to "fake moon landing jokes/seriousness" I was just wondering if perhaps I could attract the attention of a few members who feel that it was faked. Not looking for any bashing or harassment or anger, just curious what the popular opinion is in circles that believe the moon landing(s) was/were faked. I know I could probably look it up on the Googler but I don't feel like wasting hours filtering through search result rubbish, I'd much rather waste hours on TW:)

So, anyone that has a logical explanation for why the moon landing was faked feel free to drop some knowledge on me, I'm not looking to troll you, just interested in hearing a new take on something I have not done any research on. Thanks!

Oh, and because this thread will absolutely attract plenty of jokes and nonsense, let me just get this tomfoolery out of the way so that we can get on with a proper discussion of a subject which I would very much like to hear about:

    HHAhahahaAhhahaHAHAHahahaha...

K so now that that's out of the way, fake moon landing explanations please!:)

Best argument I've heard is the flag waving in the air. Only in space with no atmosphere nothing should wave.

My first impression of the link was somewhat negative given the fact that there are no citations whatsoever save for the title of the "paper" which comes from a self-proclaimed conspiracy website. No scientific backing is apparent, and unfortunately the link is to the personal website/forum of a football commentator turned universal healer who realized he was a "Son of the Godhead" when it appeared to him through automatic writing (this checks out though, as he had been channeling from the spirit world from some time and a psychic had told him his purpose was to heal the world.. did I mention that he visited an Incan burial site and it activated his chakras? Fantastic.) Despite any ludicrousness that pervades I desire to go forward and treat these conspiracy theories with the utmost respect; how can you have science without "peer" review, eh?;)

So I started looking for ways to back up the claims. The closest thing to a citation that I could find was this blurb at the top of the page: "Photo Evidence: (All this photo evidence is well-documented at www.aulis.com and all available from NASA photo directories)" I looked for photo directories on the Googler and came across this site: http://www.lpi.usra.edu

This is the website of the Lunar and Planetary Science Institute. Since I saw no direct link to NASA on the website, I decided to ask my Mother about the organization's authenticity because she is a Professor of Geology. At this point, she reminded me that she had done research at LPI the summer after she got her bachelors and before she went to graduate school for her PHD. (Honestly don't know how this slipped my mind, go ahead and accuse me of keeping this up my sleeve... really I had completely forgotten about it like it was an in-law's birthday.) So, I asked her what Apollo missions she had studied rock/mineral/glass samples from. She said she couldn't remember all the different mission numbers but she remembered a lot of them came from Apollo 16, 17, and 18. Great, the link you sent me specifically cites photos from Apollo 17 as proving that the mission was faked. I asked her about the samples that she had been studying and if there was anything about them that specified that they were from the Moon, or at the very least, were not possible to get from Earth. She told me that due to there being no weathering effect on rocks on the moon, rocks that can scientifically be proven to be millions(or more) years old have the appearance of rocks that are freshly formed. In fact, the samples we have on earth are kept in Nitrogen so that they cannot oxidize. I prodded her to tell me about the research she was doing on the samples. Apparently, she was studying glass samples from the Moon. The glass was formed by impacts from asteroids causing the rocks on the Moon to melt, yet, due to it being the surface of the moon they were immediately quenched (this does not happen in our atmosphere or on the surface of the Earth.) So I asked if this could be faked in a lab. She tells me she does not know, but that she could easily make a rough determination on the age of the glass do to devitrification (this is complicated, but it has to do with the structure of glass and how it changes over time) and that the samples she looked at had been glass since well before humans ever existed.

That's a pretty good case for the later Apollo missions having been real. Although some samples were brought back in the earlier missions, Apollo 11 included, the astronauts had no geological training until later missions. This is why early Apollo mission samples are not studied by researchers, as they were not properly handled or stored to maintain their appearance and characteristics as they were on the surface of the moon. When one takes into account the all lunar samples that are in storage are available for use in research (this is because NASA is funded by tax-dollars so scientists have the right to use them in their studies) it is preposterous to suppose that millions of people in the scientific community are playing into some hoax to pretend that hundreds of thousands of experiments, studies, and papers were all made up to keep up the illusion that we have legitimate moon samples. The only Apollo mission I see any motive for faking is the Apollo 11 landing. The motive? Fuck the Russians, if the Cold War has no winners we will at least beat them in the space race! Do you think this is a fair assumption? I'm trying to be open to new ideas here, yet I very much would like to stay within reason. Any thoughts?

At this point I would be quite surprised if someone could convince me that the later Apollo missions were faked. The first one? I'm listening. The later ones that have been the groundwork for countless scientific studies? You may as well try to convince me that we haven't put rovers on Mars, or that we didn't just to a fly-by of Pluto and its moons, or that the hubble was fake, or that Kim Jung Un has an 8-foot penis...

Thought I'd post the pics I looked up that were mentioned in the "paper" you linked me to. According to the paper: "In consecutive Apollo 17 photos (AS17-135-20588 and 89) the rock’s shadows change almost 180 degrees as if they switched studio-lights between shots"

    Here are the shots:

    20588.jpg 20589.jpg

I see no way to determine what is causing the shadows on the ground whether they be the shadow of rocks, or the shadow from a slight depression in the moon's surface...

Alright sorry for all the words and stuff:oops:

I want to hear more thoughts/get more info here!..

HOW WAS/WERE THE MOON LANDING(S) FAKED???!!!

I think this picture is so old that it may well be from Apollo 1 or possibly 2?..
