When combustion occurs, some amount of pressure passes the pistons and enters the crank case. The PCV valve releases this pressure and a hose usually directs it right back to the intake. Unfortunately, this air contains some oil mist as well. The oil catch can catches the oil mist allowing only air to go back into the intake instead of air plus oil mist. Over many many miles, this oil spraying back into the intake creates a buildup that increases drag on the air going into the cylinders causing reduced efficiency (i.e. less horsepower and mph) although not a huge difference. If you are looking to keep a truck for a really long time and want it to run it's best as long as possible, it's one of the little things you can do to help out a little bit.

This is the intake on my last truck after 200k+ miles due to this.

Took all day, but I got my fuse/relay block built and installed and all the existing add-ons rewired, despite the constant rain. I have lot of extra capacity pre-wired at this point. Now I can move forward with the CB install, then the extra cameras...

Nice place for the catch can (I have the same one and color ) It's a shame my volant air scoop would block access to it. BTW it's pretty far from the PCV IMO unless you plan to run dual catch cans?

Nice install, this is going next on my list. Link for catch can? How did you mount it and what lines get tapped into?

My truck is one week old today! Started simple with Weather Techs floor mats. Also installed bike mounts on the bed rail. Who knows what next week will bring.

Hmmm...They look kind of pink to me. For a second I thought I was looking at MTGirl's truck.

Maybe a darker red, light gray or some color other than black for some contrast. That color just seems a bit loud and not quite red.
