If anyone has these types of air rifles and don't drop in a Charlie Da Tuna trigger, you'll never know how sweet your gun can be.

Here's my gun for plinking. Feinwerkbau 300s imported from Germany by Beeman. Trigger is probably 3oz. It will shoot pellets in the same hole at 10 yards and I can shoot thumb tacks all day long at 30 yards. No barn burner at 550 fps but I can resort to my RWS 22 cal 350 Magnum when I need the horsepower.

    back to bone stock.
turkey hunting, my brother and i both whacked birds in the morning. we are only allowed one bird a day, so we called it and went to a sporting goods store. my brother saw and fell in love with a Gamo Whisper hanging on the wall. he came running with it, and a box of pellets. we set up a prone bench in the garage shooting out into a soil bank. what a joke!! that gun was like lightning. it never hit the same spot. and my bro is a trained shooter for his work. i couldnt hit crap. we drove the gun back and the guy was typing out our refund when he saw us walk in..he laughed said, that same gun has come back several times. he said nobody can get it to shoot. i was done with Gamo.

i have a new rifle coming..and it is going to be a cannon!!

    ^^This^^

I was hatin my Gammo piece of shit that never shot the same twice , until I put a "Charlie Da Tuna " trigger in it . Then I read up on "Tunning"
Went through the process with a friend , doing it ourselves.
Now I have a really really nice gun that shoots Bullseyes at 35 yards no problem. I've killed squirrels out to 45 yards.
I also took the butt plate off the stock , sprayed a small amount of expanding foam in ... Then filled the center cavity with sand ... Then capped that with more spray foam. Sweet gun !! 1400 FPS right after the tune.
I'm shooting RWS Superdomes 177 cal.
Don't waste your money on those pointed pellets ... Crap

That must have been some tune, if you're getting 1400fps out of a springer.

    That's a "No Shit"!!! Ran it through a chrono .... 1410 , 1408 !!
That's not hot for 177 .... My Savage M93 HMR is doing 2600 FPS in 177 caliber. Like a laser beam !! :D

So , in all politeness .... You are missing something ... a Good Tune !

The tune consisted breaking down the whole gun , removed all unevenness from all moving parts. New spring , new seals , built a guide rod to close tolerances out of high density Teflon , Charlie Da Tuna trigger , rework the stock as mentioned above. $150 in material , labor free. Took about 4 hours .

I think "renval" said that's hot for a .177 pellet (air rifle), not a powder propelled bullet. Now your talking rimfire cartridges. And your chrony needs calibrated. I fully understand what a "tune" is, most quality rifles don't need them. I've shot air rifles for over forty years and have NEVER seen a springer, especially a Gamo get even close to that. You my friend, have a keeper.

What are we talking about here, airguns, powder burners? i have been shooting all kind of guns since i was 12, airguns are my favorite for many reasons, i have owned so many of them, different brands from $50 to $2000+ in many calibers and i have never seen .177 pellets shooting accurate at that speed, thats just impossible, besides Gamo its at the bottom of the air gun quality world, i have owned 3 Gamo Hunters and they were just ok, i'm sorry but i find that hard to believe.

I have a Gamo Silent Cat Whisper, the one with the "suppressor." First time I shot it, I used the provided ultra light pellets and the damn thing sounded like a .22. Even with normal mid weight lead pellets, the thing is not much more quiet than a standard one. So disappointed.

Its funny when i see those advertised speeds, 1250 fps-1550fps!!! for a pellet? its just silly, pellets dont do well a higher speeds.

I was told its with hyper light alloy pellets. Dunno.

This is faster than advertised. Right? Faster than a 22 rim fire I think. I'd love to try to shoot one like that.

From what I've seen most of those hyped up speed claims are just that, hype. They rarely achieve those speeds even with the light fodder. My TalonSS does best from 750-800fps.

    :oldglory:

I understand that Daddy ... I thought renval was talking 177 caliber in general and figured I'd throw out there the speeds that caliber can attain.

As far as my chrono needing calibration , it wasn't mine.
It belonged to the friend that helped me do the tune. Maybe it did need calibration ? But this guy is a gunsmith , machinist , welder , inventer, so I believed him. I don't believe he was lax as his shop and his workmanship is neat and orderly. I don't like going there often because no one man should be allowed to own that much cool stuff !!
He builds race atv's for Yamaha , has numerous competition rifles in the 7-10 thousand dollar range with the scope ! A couple of those 3-4 thousand dollar air guns that operate off of the compressed gas , just a really eye opening , fun place to go if you can handle constant political bitching ! ( nuther reason I don't go often )
The chrono was done after about 10 shots break in , indoor at the shop.
I'm sure it has slowed by this time 1000+ shots , but I would bet I'm still above 1100 ?
The gun is absolutely night and day after the Tune. I really like this gun now. It's my go to gun when ridding varmints at my property.
I'm not a competition shooter but I can hold my own. 3 out of 5 shots will be in a quarter sized bull at 35 yards.
I did a lot of research and investigations before I did the tune. To get great results you have to go all out, with the special lubes seals, springs, the machining and Teflon . I figured it would be the way to go down a cheaper road than buying a more expensive gun and still having the pos gammo ? The sand was a major factor in accuracy as it gave weight , stability , and vibration removal , which was minimal anyway after the rebuild.
Those light weight pellets are all over the place , junk , waste of money.
    I know some think I'm full of shit , I don't really care , because I'm too old to care o_O ! Lol !!
But in the end , my friend ...... Yes I have a Keeper :D !!

Thanks, it's getter better. All those were shot with cheap Benjamin 7.7gn Walmart bulk as I'm still breaking the barrel in on this one. It's only got 300 or so rounds through it. When this tin is gone I'll start the true group tests with a Straight Shooters pellet sampler. If the hot ass weather will break.
