I have a 2004 Toyota 2 wheel drive. Prerunner model. I have read tire threads until I am brain dead.

I don't off road. This truck is stock. I am looking for something that is quiet and smooth and high end. Not opposed to a "look" but really not heading out into the boonies or rock climbing ect.

Would appreciate input on the Michelin brand and any experience good and bad with them. Don't require Michelin but have heard they wear very well.

Any other brand comparable to the big M would be considered if it is something reviewed by someone with a like vehicle. I realize many are modded and don't use what I have in mind exactly.

Also... the 265/70/16 size the best route or maybe something a tad narrower? Maybe it doesn't make a hill of beans... but I would rather hear from fellow owners than just talk to someone over a counter that doesn't drive the model I have.

    Cheers.... Rustynail

Michelin is a premium brand. Cost more, but you get what you pay for.

Both my cars (Tacoma and Corolla) run Michelins. Very quiet, and handle well.
I off-road my Tacoma, but am running P-rated tires for the ride, handling, and side-wall flex. Only dis-advantage is I sacrifice side-wall strength. With a replacement warranty, who cares.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
There is no tire better than Michelin. The Michelin LTX MS2 are the best wear, best traction, best value tire out there. There are forums with many people getting 100,000 miles safely out of those tires.
I like a slightly more aggressive look, so I went with the LTX AT2s, same price more or less, slightly less miles, but a little more aggressive look.

I'm running Michelin's on both my 2012 DCSB and my 2008 Mustang. I think very highly of their tires and have had good success with them. Are they expensive? Yes! But I think they are worth it!

I have 265/70/16 LTX MS2's and like them very much .
Had Nokian WRG3's on my Dakota and they were great in the rain and snow

I love my LTX AT2's too! Best tire I've ever had on my truck! And that's comparing it to Wranglers, Bridgestones and Dunlops. The ride is smooth and quiet and the little more aggressive look is a plus too. I don't think I'll get any other brand than Michelins from now on!:)

Sweet. Thanks for the input from all so far. I am going to price and locate the LTX AT2's as they seem to be best of both worlds for me.

I'm running LTX 2. Going about 5 years now with 40k and the tread still looks like new. My only complaint is the side wall are now showing signs of dry rot. But 5 years it's probably normal.

If you don't off road, get the MS 2's. They are the best road tire period. I have them on my wife's SUV and they are amazing. If you play in dirt, get the AT 2's.
