Exactly the built in rear spoiler on the 3rd gen will look out of place on the smooth clean lines on the 2nd gen.

I guess you haven't noticed the different curvature on the new tail gate. Going too look real silly on a 2nd gen.

The modern Frontiers have a spoiler/reinforcement on their tailgates, that doesn't look too tacky.

Maybe the 3rd gen tailgate will give the same effect on a 2nd gen.

if you want a spoiler just put a wicked with on your truck. It'll look about the same and swapping tailgates.

@@RCRcer, we all have been thinking the question you actually asked.

The 2016 handle looks much larger, and the camera is on the other side.

Thanks @tomwil, I was looking for another option other than the Pop and Lock offerings (OEM would have been sweet though). Mixed reviews on TW with PnL. I'm considering the Extang tri-fold and with that need a lock for the tailgate. Looks like PnL is the only way?

Is that really a spoiler? Or is it just a ledge to grab with your fingers when lifting the tailgate?

According to this thread, it is a spoiler, and now installed in 2014 & up Frontiers. But it appears to serve as a finger ledge also when using the tailgate.

When I was looking at Frontiers last year before my purchase of the Tacoma, that spoiler was heavy and added strength to the tailgate. I was impressed with it, compared to the lightweight Tacoma tailgate.

Hmmm. Well they can call it a spoiler if they want. LOL Not much surface area and if that truck is moving fast enough to need extra down force... it's probably going to lose control and roll anyhow.
