Tail gate removal

I want to switch tail gate from my 97 to my 02 . Do they just unbolt like it appears or is there any surprises. My 02 is bowed, I'll have to repaint but I want the good on on the newer tjk ~~OBYs

 

Ya, should be able to just unbolt the two bolts on the hinges. Probably only need to unbolt one side to get the gate off, and of coarse the cables.

 

Don't need to unbolt anything just slip off the cables, unplug any wiring [if equipped] then open gate to about 45 degrees and slip right side hinge off then lift gate off of left hinge no tools required.

 

Nope the Tacoma tailgates on the first Gen bolt on
