Hey all. Having the frame recall done on my 05 Tacoma and the dealer tells me I'm on the hook for repairs if the parking brake brackets break when they do the swap. They say they usually crack and break. Has anyone had to do this? I can't understand why they won't just buy the truck. Would be cheaper. This dealer won't even cut me a break on labor for any other parts I pay for.

What other parts are you paying for to install?

I'm Not now. Dealer tells me I need another cat due to rot on the connection to the pipe and I need new power steering hoses. Dealer wants to charge premium that I can't afford. Have to look at aftermarket parts and have hoses made after the swap is done. Was going to have water pump and thermostat done since it was right there but looks like I'll be doing that too. Any info on the brackets?

Have them do the frame replacement ( I assume they'll install your motor and drivetrain) then I'd get the truck the fuck out of there and trust me, they'd never see me, again.

Would like that but it's way beyond what I need unless it's less expensive to go that route. I don't understand why I can't just sleeve the connection and call it good. The cat itself is okay, just the end where the gasket is is rotted.

So a Toyota dealership, is telling you that while working on your Toyota truck, that their Toyota mechanics might break Toyota factory parts, during the process of a Toyota Corporate recall repair? And you have to pay for that? Haha get the fuck out of here. I'd be having conversations with the manager/dealership owner.

I called corporate. They told me that if its not on the list of parts such as control arms and such that are part of the recall then sucks to be me. Stupid to put that much $ into a truck whose value is less. But need the inspection sticker and pressed my luck already. can I get a link to what the parking brake brackets consist of and how much they cost. Is that something I can wrench myself?

If its the brackets I think you're talking about, they're just a single bolt into the leaf spring. Easy.
