I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Well, 2gen Tacoma has been exceptional truck since it went on sale.
A 11 year old model powered by Land Cruiser engine and transmission wipes the floor with new pickup truck powered by Malibu engine...:D. I knew potential of 2gen Tacoma as soon As I test drove one...

Not sure, however, why this is in "3rd gen section"?
    :notsure:

"3rd gen" has to yet beat Colorado..

Saw that. Sounds good, but too early to tell. Something has to be done though to the 4 cylinder.

Pretty sure no one in 2nd gen forum cares. The rest of us 3rd gen's are like addicts waiting for our next fix. I can't imagine tacoma sales dropping due to a redesign. Maybe if it was completely different exterior styling. But, toyota played it pretty safe.

I like that a 10 year old design us outselling a new chevy design. Then again the new colorado dash reminds me of a 10 year old grand am

I think the reason the 2015 is selling so well is the fact that people are disappointed with the 2016 and want to get a new Gen 2 before they are gone. Also, when you add the Colorado and Canyon sales together it's a lot closer that this article makes it look. I think the only reason GM can't sell more trucks is that they only have one plant and can't make them fast enough. Toyota on the other hand has two plants and can make all the Tacos people want.

Disappointed in a truck that's not out yet, so haven't even been able to test drive.... and nobody even knows the actual specs for? Makes sense.

This. Go to a Chevy/GMC dealer and see how many Colorados/Canyons are lot the lot. My guess is less than 3. The GM twins have the shortest time on lot of any truck, and 9th overall of ANY VEHICLE sold. Source: https://www.cars.com/articles/junes-fastest--and-slowest-selling-cars-1420680685995/

My guess is that GM is purposely limiting production to keep demand high. Or maybe they just can't get their shit together, production-wise. Either way, the demand is there for the GM mid-sizers.

So, there is still a hot market for a midsize pick up....

    And Toyota's offering is.......bleh.

It will be interesting to see what frontier and ridgeline go with. Frontier has bee traditionally cheaper. Ridgeline was not really a pickup or held a niche market due to towing, payload, and car like abilities. But ridgeline was accommodating for the soccer mom with innovative storage ideas.

If ridgeline is comparable to other mid size specs and looks and performs like a truck Honda may get a few customers.

I have been waiting for years for Nissan to step up to the plate.

Yea, it will be interesting to see what the Frontier and Ridgeline offer in the new models for sure. The new Pilot 3.5L has slightly better power numbers than the 2016 Tacoma and the new Ridgeline will most likely get that motor. What was previously a knock on the RL from the Frontier/Tacoma crowd, the 3.5L car/suv motor, is now what the new mid sizers are using. I guess Honda was ahead of the times huh. The Ridgeline has always had more payload capacity than the Tacoma so that's not what was holding it back. I think it was the horrible styling, front drive based chassis, and terrible bed sides that only Yao Ming could reach over and slightly lower towing capacity with no frame. If Honda can get some of those things buttoned down it will sell well. Come on, its a Honda after all!
