Which is why Colorado diesel may blow through any sales numbers.. It will be offered for fleets, and for city driving it will beat any Gasoline engine

Yeah the only thing that makes me not want the diesel is the timing belt. That is just a bad idea for a diesel.

I drive a 1 ton diesel from time to time but it is pre emissions so it is awesome!

I think the price will hamper it, but I bet you won't see any sitting on the lots.

Toyota already has the cvt in the highlander hybrid. It sits in the garage next to my Tacoma, and it tows just fine. Capacity on that one is only 3500lbs though.

Ha ha I dont know, Diesel Colorado will definetely hit atleast 30 MPG's on the highway.
With 21 gallon fuel tank thats a range of 630 miles for a pickup with out refueling.
Delivery guys will be thrilled, not to mention For Fire Marshals, Rangers and Police it is a perfect vehicle.
Since its GM they will get all the incentives.... Unless that engine turns out to be the same junk as FIAT in RAM 1500, GM is goign to make some serious money.
In the meantime 2 years from now a lot of them will be coming out of the leases, and its an Offroad builds for many. :D

It's built over seas by Isuzu and seems to have a good rep. thus far. Now, add the US required emissions, and who knows?

    Um, really?

Almost all (if not all) hybrids come with a CVT for the mileage. The Ford Freestyle had it just to be a shitty SUV, but it worked well enough even there.

That tow rating may be for frame and not tranny. My old Windstar's tow rating was 3500 lbs based on the base Crown Vic frame, even though the engine and tranny were capable of 6K+.

Yeah its still GM so you never know they may f..k something up just because, although that engine so far had proven itself and GM is trying to get better so there is a chance that Engine maybe a perfect combo.

well he nailed the "super secret" bro edition suspension before the truck even hit the sales floor........like I said, pops does R&D...........I wouldnt give just ANYONE credit, but this dude has an inside.

I think its a valid thread, just as valid as the HP/TQ and MPG claim threads for gen 3........................just cuz u dont like it doesnt mean its a stupid thread, just unsubscribe and come back when they hit the sales floor.

keep ur eyes peeled, isnt the proving ground in Az?

Yes, but all I've seen is an F150 mule a year ago at Paradise Bakery in Surprise, and lately have seen the Super Duty mule at the same intersection twice.

That Toyota track is less than 20 minutes from here. Don't know anything other than that.

I have not been able to find anything that says Isuzu builds this Diesel. I know that the 6.6 was a joint venture between GM and Isuzu, but what I find is that it's built at a GM factory in Thailand.

    new CVT tech..............

"the key to Fallbrook’s NuVinci CVT template is the use of what he called “balls and discs” to replace the gears used in a traditional transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies the speed ratio, thus providing what Klehm calls “an unlimited number of gear ratios” to optimize engine efficiency, thus improving fuel economy."

maybe toyota got ahold of something similar?
