Has anyone ever had to replace one of their power locks? On my driver side rear door, the power lock is not working. It was slowly going for about a month. Would sometimes lock and unlock. Now it's finally given it up. I like to lock all the doors, with the kids in the truck. Plus using the keyless entry to lock it, I have to remember to lock that back door manually. #firstworldproblems

So I was wondering if anyone has had to replace one, and possibly remember the part number. Maybe rough estimated cost.

I plan on pulling the panel off soon and seeing what's doing.

There is a good chance that it just needs to be cleaned. There are some write ups floating around where the little motor has connectors on them, they need to be cleaned. Mine do it every now and then. I just haven't had time to sit for two hours and take it all apart to clean it.

Edit: Found it. Take a look at this before spending the money at the dealer as it's pretty costly from what I've heard.

You're welcome, no problem at all. Let us know how it goes. I need to do this to both of my driver side doors. I just haven't sat down and done it yet as they still work but are showing signs of messing up.

Looking right so far, let us know how the next step goes with taking out the motor for a cleaning.

Got it all apart, no problems.

    Dirty motor before cleaning.

    Cleaned up the motor.

Lots of carbon dust all around it. Blew it all out and didn't have any sandpaper, so used steel wool to clean it up.

    Works like a charm now!

    Very happy this is fixed.

Edit : Found the before pic of the motor before cleaning.

Thanks Pee. It's all thanks to that write up that was posted. I might stared at it with the panel off for a while and never fixed a damn thing if it wasn't for that.

awesome, congrats with the fix. I've got to do this to mine. Won't be this weekend though as I'll be hanging out with the family.

Thanks. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Certainly helps with having directions with pics too. I referred to them a few times throughout the process. Although someone posted in the write up thread which motors are needed and they're $5 on ebay. Which is also a great alternative to taking to the dealer. I might go that route if it happens again. As the biggest pain was getting that motor apart.

Well, now driver door is doing it. Sooooooo... I'll be messing around with it soon. Hopefully Saturday if all goes well. I imagine passenger side doors will do the same soon. So one of these days I'll probably open those ones up just to fix it before it happens. Seems inevitable.

Did the driver door today. For most part went smoothly. Because of the key on that door it was a pain in the ass to line that all back up to put the locking assembly back in. Otherwise it wasn't too much different than the back door. Door panel comes off just as easily. All back together and working. :D
