Weekly Photography Challenge Thread (see first post rules and then the poll at top before entering)

Sorry! Busy day. I was helping the gal move her new roommate in.

I am on my phone but I really enjoyed all the entries! It was cool because most of the shots were a small snap shot of everyone's day.

The one that won me over was Murph's (medic2230) shot. The colors are vibrant and I love the lights on the waves. Awesome job and props to being out at that time to take the shot.

I'll second that! The reason I keep playing this game is because I keep learning. Murph you keep raising the bar though

 

we should do a "best picture with a mediocre camera" lol, ........I need to buy a dslr. congrats @medic2230

 

We have had several people win with just their phones. Don't let that stop you. I really liked yours.

Some editing I think would have made it pop. Check out Avairy. It's a free phone editor.

That was the first night time HDR I've ever done. I like doing new things and keeping at them until I get something really awesome. There's a statue here that I can't tell you how many times I've gone back and photographed it trying to find that one angle that just makes the photo pop. Night photography is one of those things for me that just keeps puling me in and wanting more.

 

Ok, new challenge.

Symbol: Show a symbol of something.

Could be a building that's in a city that represents it or it could be something that means something to you. Use your imagination and push yourself to new creative limits.


Can be anytime day or night and any subject that falls into the category. Time starts now. Challenge ends at midnight local time on Sunday. Winner to be picked on Monday.

Thanks Ryan! Hope everyone will try to do it. I'd really like to see this thread take off again and get some challenges out there to get everyone out of their comfort zone and learn new techniques.

 

I like the challenge. I dont have any ideas but ill keep my mind on it.

I couldn't get a new camera and not come in here without something good now could I buddy?

 

Rochester Mn. AKA Med City, the Mayo brothers Dr. Charlie and Dr. Will.


Played around with different settings and in the end picked f/2.8 for .3 seconds, I preferred the softer Mayo Clinic in the background and harder focus on the statues.

 

For me, this fly rod symbolizes being humbled, at peace, and rewarded. Had a great day on the little Po today.

Mine is a little cliche but it is a very important symbol in my life. Not only are a rings a symbol of the commitment my wife and I made to each other but the little bowl is a special spot in our bathroom we put our rings when we take them off.

I've been moving in to a new house all week so i had to rush to take this one.

Symbol of my thankfulness

Took this while doing some landscaping at work, to me it symbolizes the circle of life, with the beginning of the leaf which then turns into a skeleton of what it once was, having been eaten by lady bug larvae, thus giving its life (the tree giving a part of itself) for the existence of another.
