Looking for some opinions from some non LC owners here. I had a dream the other night I was rolling around in a nice new Taco. It was magnificent! I just recently bought one of the lowest mileage LX's in the country, an '04 (facelifted) with 49k on it. Always garaged super clean Texas truck. That said I basically stole the damn thing. Any 100's with under 75k miles are going for upper 20's with lower mileage examples in the lower 30s. I picked this up from a great owner for stupid money, I almost felt bad...If I was able to get out of this 100 around 30, a new Taco could be mine. Sure out of the box it isn't as good offroad but the utility of the bed would outweigh that as I haul slightly more often than I'm offroad. The Tacos interior would be be up to snuff with the Lexus but still looks great with leather and all of the new goodies.

What do you guys think? I have my 'mod budget' ready to make it rain like magic city on this truck but a brand new truck with no miles might be the way to go...

Get a solid test drive on the new tacomas, I like my tacoma but those lx seem like they have very nice interiors and a lot more room too. It all comes down to needing a truck bed or not I guess.

The bed I can live without but would be nice to have once and a while. The LX is an absolute monster on the highway, power is good and it just eats up the miles. I did 1700 miles in 28 hours including stops for food and a brief nap. Definitely going to do a good test drive once they hit dealers.

I guess my question really is what would YOU do? Another option is to add the taco in a year or two.

Don't do it!!! Haahaa... I traded my 07 Tacoma for a 99 LX470...... You will regret it..it will take you more places... You can't go wrong with the bullet proof 4.7.... And all that new technology can suck balls... Not to mention all the weird looks like... "Wtf is that really a Lexus on the trail?!?!" My 2 cents

If you can live with out the bed... No sense in a truck.... Main reason I got rid of the truck. I never used the truck bed unless I went to the dump... I just rent or borrow a trailer...

I was following this guys around in the buggies and one was floored I could follow the same lines and virtually can keep up with them

Oh and you can get 295's under it with out a lift or modification... I was a mod day about a week ago.. Guy let me put a 315 to test fit.. I am pretty sure with the Globe/Torsten adjustment and grinding the pinch welds they will fit...

If you want to more about all that let me know...

I would wait the year or two and add the Tacoma to the "fleet". While Toyota is pretty good with product quality when it comes to initial launch years, I'd still prefer a 2018 and beyond.

Then he won't want a Tacoma and be in my shoes... Still wants a Solid front axle.... He keeps the 100 some what stock and find a locked x3's 80 series for the hard core wheeling... Like @loco... :)

Flex Dream out of Japan. They do a 60's grill insert too, on an 80.

Got my Eye on this one... One owner... 175k on it. All records... Locked 3x. As soon as he can get his wife to sell it, I get first dips.

Oh and people  when I tell them it's a 4link set up in the rear... How much will that cost... $$$$ to do that in a 2016 Tacoma?!?!? Find a dirt road... Lock the CDL push the skinny pedal and see what those shocks really soak up...
