Your supposed to keep teak oil on the wood after every use, if it's dry and all scratched it won't break but some teak oil will bring that thing back to life and look brand new. I've had all brands and Riffe is my favorite, but I can't afford a Wong so...

I got hooked on spearfishing while I was in maui for a few months. Came back to this hell hole state only to find out that the only fish you can spear is carp. I don't want to spear something simply for sport. I want to eat it as well. All of the surrounding states allow normal bag limits on all game fish. Colorado is run by a bunch of communist nazis. I've made 2 trips to surrounding states to spear freshwater but haven't seen a fish on either outing. Heading out this weekend to try my luck at another lake for my 3rd outing. next month I'll try flaming gorge again. I'm determined. SPEARFISHING! FTW!

Last few times out I didn't see anything worth shooting. Trying to hit the small fish is just a practice in futility.

I started spearfishing a couple years ago and I do like it. Didn't caught anything trophy but some nice small mouth bass and trying to find pikes :p
I have a pneumatic Mares mini mini sten. I was wondering if some of you guy has the same speargun as me to answer a couple question?

Here's an update from this weekend. Finally got my first fish, but unfortunately it wasn't a sport fish. I was so hell bent on spearing a fish that I gave in a shot a carp. I instantly felt guilty and wont be shooting a carp ever again. was a great day though. Water was warm, visibility was ok, saw a bunch of fish, and took a few shots that I missed. So far it was the best freshwater outing for me.

Another outing resulting in a skink. I have yet to spear something I can eat... Oh well, I'm still having fun with it. Took the shot with the tacoma in the background for this forum :)

Well I've been fishing {rod and reel} my whole life and finally decided to take the plunge and start spear fishing this year in southern NJ. We don't get too many clear water days but I would like to make the most of what we do get. A friend also is beginning this year, I've been told by EVERYONE to never dive alone so I won't and hopefully neither will he. We will be free diving, no scuba. Hopefully I will have some nice pictures to post throughout the summer into fall.

I'm headed to Key West, FL tomorrow; going out on a buddy's boat to spearfish for 2 days. The last time I was there in 2004, we shot grouper and hog fish. I may shoot some lion fish; I hear they are all over the place now.

Went out spear fishing a month or so ago just south of the Monterey bay. While I didn't see anything worth shooting, I did see one of the coolest things I've ever seen while in the ocean. It was a jelly fish with bioluminescence. It was about 4" across and had streaming "lights" running down the side of it.
