Tons of help on this forum for retrofit help, not to mention TRS themselves. Head over to the GB and ask any questions, somebody will answer them

    Front bumper is done!

    Rear bumper with monstaliner.

also did my dads rear bumper for his f-250.

Grill is done. Went ahead and just monstalined the whole thing. Primed the stainless with the 2k primer and used bulldog adhesion promoter for the rest.

Tape the bed rails of again and rolled some black on to hide the white line. That away the black is over the gray instead of the other way around.

Got a new antenna from walmart

Gray wire mod. Found out the locker wont engage, so im going to have to tear into it some day.

Put chassis saver on the receiver that came with the truck. We rolled some monstaliner on the part that you will see.

Don't have a good pic of the fender flares but we also sprayed black monstaliner on them as well. I also sprayed some bulldog adhesion promotor on the fuse panel cover inside the truck and rolled some on it. I want to see how it will hold up on the plastic. Maybe i will redo the interior in monstaliner.:notsure:

    And these came in today:D
    16x8 SCS F-5 3.5"BS gun metal gray

Shocks should be here by wednesday. Then that night hopefully everything is back on the truck and we can make the shock mounts. Then its off to get the tires and wheels mounted and an alignment.

Truck is looking great! Look forward to when everything is all together.

Front bumper sorta look like an elite offroad one. Looks good.

Ya i think it came out pretty good. The only thing i don't like is the gap between the bottom of grill and headlights and the top of the bumper. It wasn't so big but when we took it off the grind everything and then mounted it again it seemed to drop like 1/2 inch. But oh well. In a month i won't even notice it. lol

How did you mount the bumper?

The two screw mounts on the side of the frame?

We welded this to the frame and welded nuts to the back of it.

You can do a very accurate alignment yourself if yah have some string and a 1-1/4 inch wrench! lol im not kidding

curious how much the 4 icon shocks cost? in general numbers , the chasis paint I know 1/4 is 39.99 a gallon 99.99 but with all work you did , how many gallons to paint all over those places you already did ?.... is great product but pricy... then in youtube someone did the whole winter protection with chassis paint 1/4 , mixted and spraying... don't think is the same protection diluted.

Anyway what is your taco cost you so far ?

Well the front icons I bought off a member for 700. The rears were 315 new. Honestly I don't even think we used a whole gallon of chassis saver for the frame. Once you get the first coat on the stuff spreads really easy, we put it on too thick in places and there is air bubbles in the paint. It sucks in moisture to cure, and when its too thick tiny air bubbles form. Suppose to do light thin coats. As of today we have used just over a gallon of chassis saver. That's painting the frame, backside of fenders, underside of bed, underside of cab, front of truck, and bumper brackets, all three coats.

I don't know how much has actually went into it. Probably not as much money as you would think. Mostly time. It would be a lot cheaper if I would have kept it all stock. I think a safe number would be around 3000-4000. The truck sold in auction for around 1800 with fees it was 2200. So all in all 5000-6000… high being 7000. Again this is with buying almost everything aftermarket, shocks, wheels, tires, leafs, headlights and retros, seat covers, LED dash lights, led fog lights, repainting all interior ( regretting now), vinyl floor, switches, sound deadening. Its not it took 7k to have a stock truck. Its almost better then new, in some aspects. Keeping all of that stock the cost would have went down a lot, but I wanted to do it how I wanted from the start. Like there was no point of spending money on stock shocks, then down the road pay for different ones, in the end it would have just cost more. I'm also very lucky to have access to things others would have to buy, like all the steel, bolts and hardware.

But all this work was done ourselves, the biggest sacrifice was time, not money. I think its been 110 days since we started and probably 70+ has been spent working on it. Go to work tell 5, eat, work on truck tell 10 or 11. almost everyday, all summer long. Then work 20+ hours on it on the weekends.

Thanks! I was thinking that we should have but like a camera in our shop and press record every time we worked on it, then we could have had a time lapse of the whole build, it would have been pretty cool.

Well I decided to paint everything with dupi color viynal a fabric paint. Some things came out well, some didn't. It seems that the paint in places didn't stick well, its already starting to flake off. Idk if I didn't get the surface clean enough or what. Or maybe that paint isn't intended for the plastic surfaces?:notsure: and the pant would fade and look different colors in some places if the humidity was too high. Which it has been here like everyday. Its just not every durable or practical, I feel like if I barely nugde somethimg, paint will come off. But since I know how to take it all the interior out, I probably could have it out and painted in a weekend. I actually rolled some monstaliner on the plastic fuse cover thing inside the truck, first sprayed with bulldog adehesion promotor, and I'm going to see how it will hold up. Who knows maybe I will do it all in monstaliner, expensive I know but it would looked good and last a long time.

It probably would have, I was going to do that, should have, I still feel like it wouldn't be all that durable for a truck interior. I should have just left it alone. Oh well.

Which parts flaked? the black trim? I took all the panels I could out of the car and washed them with a white scotchbrite, then after i dried them, I wiped all the panels with lacquer thinner thoroughly. I used the duplicolor vinyl fabric paint in flat black. I just have the dash panel left to do... Anyhow, the only panel i see any wearing is the driver side kick panel, cuz i kick it, with my feet.

The plastic on the back of the cab, the plastic that covers the around the rear window. It might of been in the prepping. I washed everything and cleaned it with simple green then washed it again and let it dry then painted. A lot of the flat black pieces had to be repainted cause they would start turning gray.

so got the shock mounts fabbed up, they came out pretty good.

SCS F-5s and 255/85/16 cooper st maxxs! Love them!

    compared to 31x10.5-15

    Switch panel is done

Truck is all put together (minus rear fender flares)

Coverking tactical seat covers came in.

    Sticker collection

So the rebuild is pretty much over, just in time as i move in for college on Thursday. After i put the tires on i took it for a short drive and we found out the driver side inner tie rod was toast, and there is a hole in the steering rack boot... So those will be fixed tmrw and it get an alignment tomorrow. And for the transmission problem i made a thread on here and people said it seems to be having a hard time picking up fluid so we checked and its full, so im going to drop the pan and check the filter/screen to see if its clogged or something. Also found out that it could be bucking hard going into drive or reverse because of the throttle body cable needs adjusted (makes since because we did have all that stuff apart). so i will be doing that as well as changing oil in diff and transfer case and the motor oil. As well as install my seat covers. Order the rest of the clips i need for rear fender flares...hopefully they get here before i leave...probably not though.

We bought it of a salvage auction site. The guy who had it obviously didn't care what the truck looked like inside or out. So probably never cared for a frame recall. Who knows how long it had been setting in the salvage yard to waiting to be put up for auction too.

But yes it was bad, so bad that me and my dad tell everyone it honestly should have been junked. Lol. This is how it goes " got a new truck, a wrecked one".... "is it in good shape?".... "It should of just been crushed "
