When choosing between 16 and 17 inch wheels my head hurts. Does this seem like a life decision to anyone else? Read comparisons until my eyes bled... Like both for different reasons. Why is this such a pain to decide?

I like the 17's if the tire size is right.

    17's are the new 15's

17's do look good but i dropped down to 16's cause i wanted the FJ Cruiser Trail Team wheels for my Tacoma.Good luck in your decision! With patience and research it will all work out for you!

I'm in the same boat. Keep going back and forth. 17" has the right proportion for the DCLB. 16" looks right to me on the everything else. I'm finding tires I like for 16" cost more because more sidewall.

Yeah, I like the ease of finding tires for the 16s I like and cost associated with the wheels and tires but the 17's I like look amazing too. First world problems I suppose. I think that 16's look better on DCSB in most cases.

If I could pick, it would be Method NV, Method Mesh or Procomp La Paz wheels... Seeing all of these trucks with wheels in both 16 and 17 here didn't really help. Made me just want them all...

#1 factor you need to consider is many of your popular size 16" tires do not come in C or D load, only E.

17 for less overall weight with similar tire size.

Yeah, I'm finding a 9-13 pound difference between 16" and 17" tires. I suppose if you go with a light enough aftermarket 16" you could cancel out the. Hange somewhat. The cheaper option is to lose weight yourself :) I could give up 40lbs myself. Bet that would help mileage somewhat. I jut added spacers @ 7lbs each. I'm weary of mods that add weight. Still, I'm leaning toward 16" over 17" for the same reason we all do mods here: personal aesthetics :)

Hmm good idea. Maybe I should just drop a few lbs and help my truck out :D Part of my "plan" was to get 16s so I can use up my tired that i have now. Then get bigger tires once these are about done at the same time I do a lift. Maybe I should just go win the lotto... buy both sizes. Yeah, that is a good plan too.

OP, what I do is find the wheels I want and then base my decision off that. My trail team wheels were only in 16 so I have 16s.
What's the weight difference in 16 inch and 17 inch rims?

Different people say different things about tire weights effects. I have heard that it can count as much as 6x hauling weight, and with 4 tires that's 24lbs added to the truck for every 1 lb of rotational mass. So be careful with wheel weights!

Don't overthink. Look at the rim you want and go with it. If both are available, 16 provides additional protection for your rim.
