So, as the title says, my passenger front door speaker literally just quit. Never blew, it was on a low volume level at this point. Just stopped putting out sound. I've never had a speaker just quit out on me like that and was wondering if it was something normal? I know my way around installing systems, I put my 2 10's, amp, all the wiring, and a double din head unit in my '06 DCSB over a year ago so I guess it's time for new door speakers. My next question is, what does everyone recommend? I want to keep it something that is a direct factory replacement and that I won't need to run an amp for and can re-use the factory hook-up. If not, thats fine, but with me heading back to school this week I would like to keep it as simple as possible.

My entire left channel has been out for a while. Finally took it to dealer. He said the 2 speakers were blown and replacements would cost $600 (!)
Can anyone recommend good, aftermarket replacements?

get some kickers, they are nice speakers and well rated for sound and quality

be aware when you replace the oem speakers, they are very low profile, so you need to buy 1/4" spacers so the aftermarket speakers fit properly in the speaker housings. this is necessary for any non-oem speaker you buy.

Apparently it isn't the speaker, I pulled it out and tried to test it for polarity and it works fine. Does anyone know if our (2nd gen) tweeters are inline for the door speaker and that could've blown and caused my door speaker to not work?

My passenger rear door did the same. Just stopped. Popped open the door and saw that the connections for the speaker harness were all cracked and not connecting great. Guess they broke from all the vibrations from mall crawling. Replaced it with some JBL speakers from Crutchfield.

Also, I found these a couple of days ago, direct fit, no brackets or anything else needed.

One can never have too many light bars.
I have pioneers and they're great. Pretty much everything recommended on this thread are good speakers and cost a helluva lot less than $600. I did all pioneers, brackets, adapters and sound deadening pads for about $200.

Those Focal's seem like a promising option.

    they are run in parallel.
    from crutchfield:
The Tacoma's tweeters are located in the front door just below the window. If you decide to disconnect the tweeters and put full-range speakers in the front door woofer location, you'll need to do a little work. The speaker wires are paralleled together at the tweeter location, so the Crutchfield-supplied speaker harness won't work if you're unplugging the tweeter.
